Dynamic Loading Frame [C-Frame] Structural Loading Frame
Shake-table testing is being increasingly used in earthquake engineering
research centres worldwide, as it is the only available means of nearly
truly reproducing the dynamic effects that earthquakes impose on
structures. Using a horizontal shake table, the analysis of deflection of
buildings is done for different cases. Designing of shake table is done
considering the factors and specifications of the earthquake. The whole
system works similar to those induced in real earthquake.
The main characteristics of a shake table are an area to install, a table
mass, a maximum allowable specimen weight, a frequency range from
0 to 15 Hz, maximum accelerations of 1.1g, 0.5g and 1.8g for the
transverse, vertical and longitudinal axis respectively, and maximum
displacements for the three axes.
Rebound Hammer test is a non-destructive testing [NDT] method
which provides a convenient and rapid indication of the
compressive strength of concrete. The rebound hammer is also
called Schmidt hammer that consists of a spring controlled mass
that slides on a plunger within a tubular housing.
This test is based on the principle that the rebound of an elastic
mass depends on the hardness of the concrete surface against
which the mass strikes. A concrete with lower strength and
stiffness will absorb more energy to yield in a lower rebound value
than a concrete with higher strength and stiffness.

Profometry is an in-situ non-destructive test [NDT] used to detect
location and size of steel reinforcements and concrete cover. A small,
portable, and handy instrument which is known as Profometer or
Rebar-locator is used in this test.
The instrument is based on measurement of change of an
electromagnetic field which is caused by steel bars embedded in the
concrete. The basic principle in this test method is that the presence
of steel affects the electromagnetic field which is directed by the
Profometer device.
Diameter Measuring Range: Upto 60mm Accuracy: +1mm
Cover Measuring Range: Upto 150mm Accuracy: +5mm
An Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity (UPV) test is an in-situ, non-destructive
test used to check the quality of concrete. In this test, the strength and
quality of concrete is assessed by measuring the velocity of
an ultrasonic pulse passing through a concrete structure. This test is
conducted by passing a pulse of ultrasonic through concrete to be
tested and measuring the time taken by pulse to get through the
structure. Higher velocities indicate good quality and continuity of
the material, while slower velocities may indicate concrete with
many cracks or voids.

Impact Testing Machine – Charpy / Izod
Tile Abrasion Testing Machine
Both Charpy and Izod impact
tests are popular methods of determining impact strength or toughness of metals. These
tests measure the total amount of energy that a material is able
to absorb. This energy absorption property is directly related to the brittleness of the
material. Brittle materials, such as ceramics or glass tend to
have lower absorption rates than ductile materials like
copper, steel or aluminium.
These machines are extensively
used for determining the resistance to wear for various types of tiles [both flooring and
roofing]. They are provided with a rotating disc, adjustable
counter for automatically stopping the machine, a bracket to hold specimen and a counter
balance lever to load the specimen. The abrasion of tiles
is measured on a thickness gouge specifically made for this
purpose.

Universal Testing
Machine (UTM) is used
to test the strength of various
types of materials. The term
"universal" in the name reflects
that it can perform many
standardised tests like tension,
compression, flexure, shear etc.
In other words, it is versatile.
Once the machine is started, it
begins to apply a gradually
increasing load on the
specimen. Throughout the test,
the control system and its
associated software record the
load and deformation of the
specimen.

Modified Roughness Indicator Machine (Merlin)
Pavement Dynamic Cone Penetrometer
The unevenness of road surface is an important measure of road condition
and a key factor in determining
vehicle operating costs. A number of instruments have, therefore, been
developed for measuring unevenness,
which is usually called roughness
and standard roughness scales have been established. However, many of
the instruments are expensive and
complicated to use or require regular calibration. Modified Roughness
Indicating machine is a simple
machine to measure roughness, also called MERLIN - Machine for
Evaluating Roughness using low-cost
Instrumentation. The device can be
used either for direct measurement or for calibrating other instruments such
as the Vehicle Mounted Bump
Integrator. The equipment is easy to use, self - calibrating, robust, easily
maintained and employs readily
available components.
Pavement Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCP) is a
very robust instrument, designed for rapid in-situ
evaluation of strength of sub- grade and the bases
for roads & runway pavements. Continuous
measurements can be made down to a depth of 800
mm, or when an extension is fitted, to a depth of
1200 mm. Where pavement layers have different
strengths, the boundaries can be identified and the
thickness of the layers determined.

DIRECT SHEAR APPARATUS with Data Acquisition System
(AIM-105) And GeoStar Analysis and reporting Software
Module for Direct Shear Test for single license (AIM-10124)
In many engineering problems such as design of foundation, retaining
walls, slab bridges, pipes, sheet piling, the value of the angle of
internal friction and cohesion of the soil involved are required for the
design. Direct shear test is used to predict these parameters quickly.
Consolidation Apparatus, Six Gang, Electronic (AIM-129)
The one dimensional consolidation test performed on an undisturbed
sample of clay is useful for understanding the history of the soil
deposit. The test results can be used for calculating the settlement of
structures built on clayey soil.

Relative density or density index is
the ratio of the difference between
the void ratios of a cohesionless soil
in its loosest state and existing
natural state to the difference
between its void ratio in the loosest
and densest states.
The samples normally range from 38 mm to 100 mm samples,
although samples considerably larger can be tested with the correct
equipment. The test specimen most commonly has a height to
diameter ratio of 2:1.
Relative Density Apparatus ( AIM 115-1)

Double distillation is the process of separating the components or
substances from a liquid mixture by using selective boiling and
condensation. Double distillation unit is much more sophisticated
than single distillation unit. Distillation will result in essentially
complete separation (nearly pure components). In industrial
chemistry, distillation is a unit operation of practically universal
importance, but it is a physical separation process, not a chemical
reaction.
A pH meter is a scientific instrument that measures the hydrogen-ion
activity in water-based solutions, indicating its acidity or alkalinity
expressed as ph. The pH meter measures the difference in electrical
potential between a pH electrode and a reference electrode, and so
the pH meter is sometimes referred to as a "potentiometric pH
meter". The difference in electrical potential relates to the acidity or
pH of the solution. The pH meter is used in many applications
ranging from laboratory experimentation to quality control.

The purpose of the laboratory jar test is to select and quantify a
treatment program for removal of suspended solids or oil from raw
water or a dilute process or waste stream. Jar tests are conducted on
a four- or six-place gang stirrer, which can be utilized to simulate
mixing and settling conditions in a clarifier
A refrigerator is a machine for keeping things cold. It is sometimes
called a fridge or an icebox. People put food and drinks in it, to keep
those items cold or good (unspoiled) for a longer time. It takes heat
away from the air inside the fridge.

A magnetic stirrer or magnetic mixer is a laboratory device that
employs a rotating magnetic field to cause a stir bar (or flea)
immersed in a liquid to spin very quickly, thus stirring it. It is used
for sulphate test apart from preparation of standard solutions.
An analytical balance (often called a "lab balance") is a class of
balance designed to measure small mass in the sub-milligram range.
The measuring pan of an analytical balance (0.1 mg or better) is
inside a transparent enclosure with doors so that dust does not collect
and so any air currents in the room do not affect the balance's
operation. This enclosure is often called a draft shield. The use of a
mechanically vented balance safety enclosure, which has uniquely
designed acrylic airfoils, allows a smooth turbulence-free airflow that
prevents balance fluctuation and the measure of mass down to 1 μg
without fluctuations or loss of product. It is used for weighing the
chemicals for adsorption studies, preparation of standard solution.

A muffle furnace or muffle oven (sometimes retort furnace in
historical usage) is a furnace in which the subject material is isolated
from the fuel and all of the products of combustion, including gases
and flying ash. It is used for drying, calcination/sintering process.
These systems offer loads of features that facilitate easy operation
and comfortable working in any laboratory; stainless steel inner
chamber is easy to clean and drain plug is fitted for quick water
drainage. If your application needs stirring, a high-speed stirrer can
be fitted on request. It is used for Nitrate, Iron and total solids, and
dissolved solids.
