Salvation Army Christmas Appeal
Waller Campus is very happy to be supporting
the Salvation Army with the Christmas Appeal.
This means that we are encouraging families to
go and buy a present for someone who is not as
fortunate as themselves.
Please don’t wrap the present as then the elves
can work out the right present for the right child.
We appreciate your help with this.

We won! Benalla Health The students from Grade 1/2 at Waller campus Benalla P-12 college participated in an art work competition for Be-
nalla Health. They made small posters about their per-sonal links to services by Benalla Health such as visiting
emergency, having an X-ray or needing a doctor.
These pieces of art work were used to decorate their ‘Quality of Care Annual Report’. Benalla Health with the
CEO, Andrew and Beverley came to school and presented our school with a check for $300.

Swimming Program - P-2
The swimming program was a huge success!
It’s always fun when children squeal, laugh and
are obviously having lots of fun while learning at
the same time!
Thank you to Jessica Noonan and all the staff
who helped in the water - it makes a huge differ-
ence to the program.
GREAT OPPORTUNITY
Student Scholarships 2013-14
Students in Year 4-12 are invited to apply for student
scholarship administered by the Department.
The scholarships open on Monday 18 November 2013
and range in value from $350 to $2000.
Scholarships are also offered to VCE students who in-
tend to enter a teacher training course after completing
their VCE.
Applicants will be required to submit their 2013 end-of-
year results, which must be verified by their principals.
Many of the scholarships identify financial needs as an
eligibility criterion. Parents/guardians receiving the Ed-
ucation Maintenance Allowance or families receiving
Centrelink payments meet this criterion.
Applications are open on line and must be lodged by 31
January 2014.
Thank you!
A special little thank you to Saskia Gargan,
Arlia & Torah Heeps mum for always collat-
ing the Scholastic BookClub for us.
Sass co-ordinates this without a word and
delivers the books wrapped and ready to
distribute to you. Thanks Sass for making a
difference to our school.
Also to Eric (Alia and Torah’s Dad) for all the
mulch for our garden. It has been perfect to
keep our plants as hydrated as possible.

After School Care
Dear families,
Please find attached the program for 11 days of Vacation Care during January 2014. Once again we have a fun packed program with a variety of excursions, arts and crafts and visiting specialists.
We are looking forwarded to the Wheelchair Education program, where children can learn about living with a disa-bility and experience wheelchair skills. Our trip to the Kialla Strawberry Farm will allow children to learn about
growing strawberries and they will have the opportunity to pick a punnet each at the farm and be treated to straw-
berry ice-cream. We will travel to Shepparton Aquamoves pool two twice during the holidays, however as an alter-native on the second week, a group will also be also be attending the Benalla Pool on the same day.
Please ensure that your child is dressed in Sun Smart clothing and is provided with a cold drink and healthy snacks and lunch for each day. Cut up fresh fruit and vegies are always great in the lunchbox with fresh salad sandwich-
es.
Accounts have recently been posted to all families up to the end of November. These need to be fully paid prior to a booking being taken for the January holidays.
If you have any queries, please contact the After School Care staff or email Anne on hanra-han.anne.e@edumail.vic.gov.au

Olympic Support for our
Swimmers This coming Saturday Benalla Swimming Club is holding its
annual Long Course competition at the Benalla Sports and
Aquatic Centre. The outdoor 50m pool will be up and going
thanks to the hard work of the centre and council staff. Swim-
mers from Benalla, surrounding districts and Melbourne will
gather to compete for medals, and seek qualifying times for
the State Country Championships in January.
Swimmers will have the privilege of having 2 time Olympian
Belinda Hocking attend the meet, and will hopefully be treat-
ed to a demonstration swim and skills clinic. Belinda will also
present some of the medals, and provide some popular auto-
graphs. Belinda originally swum with the Benalla Swimming
club, and has since represented Australia in 2 Olympics, and
three world championships, winning a Silver medal in the re-
cent 2013 World Championships in Barcelona in the 200m
Backstroke.
Come along and support the local swimmers at this meet,
who have been training hard and preparing for a great Sum-
mer. You can grab a sausage from the BBQ, and cheer our
young swimmers on. The swimmers warm up from 12 noon
and the meet kicks off at 1pm. Any enquiries about swim club,
please call Richard Mailer 0429177044.
