What is Vocational Service?

Some popular activities include:• Classification talks/tours of members’

businesses• Holding career fairs and workshops• Mentoring young people• Promoting ethical behavior in business• Using members’ vocational skills to serve

or train others (e.g. Vocational Training Teams)

How do clubs practice Vocational Service?

One of the central goals of Vocational Service is to promote and advance integrity and high ethical standards.

Two useful tools are:• The Four-Way Test• The Rotary Code of Conduct

Ethics

Of the things we think, say or do1. Is it the TRUTH?2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER

FRIENDSHIPS?4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

The Four-Way Test

As a Rotarian, I will:1. Act with integrity and high ethical standards in my

personal and professional life2. Deal fairly with others and treat them and their

occupations with respect3. Use my professional skills through Rotary to mentor

young people, help those with special needs, and improve people’s quality of life my community and the world

4. Avoid behavior that reflects adversely on Rotary or other Rotarians

5. Not seek special business or professional advantages from other Rotarians
