Aastha is going to school
A girl is going to school.
Here, noun ‘Aastha’ is pointing towards a specific girl whereas ‘girl’ can be used for
any girl in general.
Here, ‘Aastha’ is a special noun and ‘girl’ is a common noun.
Examples:
Red Fort is a famous fort.

Ravi is a smart boy.
Special name Common name
Whenever a specific name of a person, place or thing is given, it is called a special
name (proper noun). We always start special names with capital letters.
Whereas, when common names or general names of a noun are given, they are called
common noun.
We do not start common names with capital letters.
