Background
• Sustainable Conservation organized a tour of biogas installations to demonstrate the variety of biogas feedstocks and processes
• Locations included landfill, dairy, cheese processing plant & municipal solid waste treatment plant

Stop #1: Waste Management Landfill at Altamont
• Waste Mgmt & Linde collect landfill gas - upgrade, liquefy & dispense LBG for trucks
• 13,000 gallons of LBG produced daily

Stop #2: Fiscalini Dairy, Modesto
• Fiscalini Dairy flushes, collects & digests cow manure
• Biogas powers on-site generators that provide electricity for dairy & others

Stop #3: Hilmar Dairy
• Met up with Hilarides Dairy milk hauler that was converted to run on CBG
• Hilmar is central processing location for many area dairies
• Digester could be used for biomethane in the future

Stop #4: City of Turlock MSW Facility
• Turlock’s MSW facility handles waste from around the area
• Digester creates biogas that fuels large fuel cell
• Fuel cell generates electricity for the city

• CALSTART involved in developing, managing & implementing projects that advance biomethane industry in Calif.
• Participated in “Biomethane for Transportation” project that successfully demonstrated dairy CBG in long-haul trucks
