Below explain a bit about it worked then present some hope phrasal verbs are to your liking.

1. Some phrasal verbs two different meanings: Take up: begin a new activity (I took up horse riding last year.)Take up: accept an offer or invitation (she took up the job offer.) Turn down: reduce volume (Please turn down the radio.)Turn down: reject (She turned down our invitation.)

Turn up: increase volume (Pease turn up the radio.) an

Turn up: appear (He turned up at the party without invitation.)

2. Most phrasal verbs that take an object can be separated by the object:

You should give this job up. Let’ pick the boxes up.

If you replace the object by a pronoun, you must put the pronoun between the two parts:

Should I give up this job? Yes, you should give it up. (NOT: give up it)

Shall we pick up the children? Yes, let’s pick them up.(NOT: pick up them)

3.There are a few phrasal verbs that cannot be separated by the object:

I came across the book by chance. I came the book across by chance.

I came across it by chance. I came it across by chance.

And of course, there is nothing to worry about when the verb is intransitive

(doesn’t take an object):

My TV has broken down.

I stayed up all night.

4. A few phrasal verbs take a second preposition: I am behind with my emails. I must catch up on them.We want to compensate for this mistake. How can we make up for it?This noise is intolerable. I cannot put up with it.

1. Try to keep the wet dog out of the living room.

2. My wife backed me up over my decision to quit my job.

3. We have to work out the total cost before we buy the house.

4. Most of my make-up wore off before I got to the party.

5. You can warm your feet up in front of the fireplace.

6. Our cat turned up after we put posters up all over the neighborhood.

7. I'll have to think this job offer over before I make my final decision.

8. We heard the news as soon as we switched on the car radio.

9. Let's run over/through these lines one more time before the show.

10. I don't think I can put up with three small children in the car.
