How we began …..To begin the activity we visited some places near our school and invited the children from underprivileged background to visit our school for a week. They were told that this would be a week of fun, activity, interaction and games.

OUR AIM …………Our aim was to spread1. The awareness of education and its importance in a play way method. (For the underprivileged children called the Ujala group)2. The awareness of our society and how we can help to better it. (For our students).

The children participating in the activity formed a team of five . Their activity was to interact with the UJALA children who come from underprivileged background .

We are all alike, alive

and a part of this

society. We care for all.

The Blue Bells team undertook many activities like teaching the Ujala children to meditate, colour, read, play, sing and dance.

Let’s make a circle.

DAY 1 [October 5TH 2011]Both the groups of children after the initial ice breaking activity gotalong very well. Bhavya of the Blue Bells team taught meditation. The children sat in neat rows and followed the instructions to the “T”.

The outcome was a wonderful session of meditation. The activity continued for half an hour to forty minutes. After the session the students felt energised and there was a sense of well being.

DAY 2 [Oct 7th 2011]The team taught the children to read for better understanding. The team members Komal and Sakshi did a great job. The younger ones of the Ujala group needed more guidance but the older ones were quick to grasp the learning strategies and apply them.

Hindi ,English ,Maths and General Knowledge were few of the topics touched. Craft work was also done and greatly appreciated. Some of the Ujalamembers did a commendable job.

Day 3[ Oct 11th ]The team and the Ujala children spent time colouring the sheets provided by the school .The ability to colour and use the colour schemes produced a scintillating rainbow effect .

Most of the children used vibrant colours and the outcome was meticulously done great pieces of art.

Ujala children .

The response to the team members’ appeal was terrific. There was a lot of revelry and happiness.

DAY 5 [ Oct 13 ,2011]Dancing is an expression of joy. To give

expression to this joy the Ujala students learnt to dance Indian and Contemporary dances

from the Blue Bells team members. They were helped by Mr. Braham and Mr. Sonu

YOU LOOK NICE WHEN YOU STAND STRAIGHT

Our Teacher leaders took it to the highest level when they taught the children how to change these simple heartfelt steps to a piece of artistry. All the participants participated in it wholeheartedly and that too with an amazing grace. It was a happy blend of song and dance.

Day 6 [Oct 14 ,2011] The last day of the activity was a fun and frolic day. Everyone participated in sporting events

like running, frog jump, lemon and spoon race . The Ujala students were divided into teams

according to their age.

OUR GANG OF HAPPY CHILDREN

The younger children did the frog jump race. The little ones did their best to be the fastest frog! All this was very entertaining for the onlookers. The older girls had the lemon and spoon race while the boys had relay race.

AT THE STARTING LINE……….

HERE WE COME !

Each and every student of the Ujalagroup participated in the games. It was a win-win situation for all because everyone had fun. The day ended with prize distribution.

How the interacting students felt.......

The Ujala students felt very nice to learn more from the Bluebells team members and felt looked after by the society.

The Blue Bells team members felt very honoured and wanted to do many such activities in the future. They felt proud to shoulder responsibilities and showed their teachers how capable they all were .

They all learned to work as a team and put in hard work to make a success of the event. In their words this activity has made them sensitive, caring and more confident .

The School leader and the Wing In charge were involved at every step and took immense interest in the outcome of each day’s activity.

They congratulated the team members on successful completion of this activity. They were happy to see a subtle change in the members and hoped that the members would continue in the same way.

Indeed a way to go ! We ,the teacher leaders felt very proud of

our children and we wish them luck in all their future endeavours.

THANK YOU !
