European Food Framework Aim: to develop a pan-European
food competence framework to improve the health of young people aged 5-16 years
Project duration: February 2010 – January 2012
Part 1. Establish the Framework competences:-diet (food and drink)-active lifestyles-energy balance
Part 2. Engage young people -5 x pilot projects.
UK pilot project
British Nutrition Foundation work with the Food Standards Agency (FSA),2007/2008
Developed the FSA Core Food Competences for the UK which covered: Diet and health Cooking Consumer Awareness Food safety
Developed young person friendly resources for age 5-16 years – Food route resources
Very successful across the UK
