Bolton Abbey:our day out in the feb half
term

I hope that you will enjoy this presentation and find some intresting facts about the place and all the walks there is to
offer in this estate parkland. I am looking forward to taking James my friend for a day out here to show him the abbey or go on the strid walk or have
a chat near the river with the dogs.
Where is Bolton Abbey?Bolton Abbey is between Harrogate, Leeds and
Skipton on the A59 road that leads from Harrogate to York. #
The River Wharfe Runs through the towns of Harewood and Leeds before seeing it at Bolton
Abbey.
Visting Bolton AbbeyWhat you can do while you are at Bolton Abbey:
•Walk the dogs •Sit near the River and have some lunch
•Visit the abbey and grounds•Buy something from a gift shop•Have a coffee and talk together.
River relaxing Sitting near the river can be very relaxing as
you have a mile stretch of river and also have a picnic near to it. You can also walk
the strid walk which is near the River Wharfe.
Bolton Abbey
In 1154 a priory was built at Bolton near Skipton on the banks of the River Wharfe as the land near to
Bolton on Wharfedale. After the castle at Skipton, the owner built the abbey
and brought the font and altar to the church and priory. In 1537, Henry Viii decided to destroy the
abbey.
Bolton Abbey Churchin 1970 destruction fell again to the church but today there
is a large congregation who goes to church on a Sunday. The church is used for people to look at and also have tours
around the buildings.
The Tour of the Church is about a hour long or you can choose a tour of the abbey.
