Welcome to autumn at Eastbourne Theatres! A new season of live entertainment brings a wonderful mix of drama, opera, ballet, live music and famous faces coming to town.New touring drama includes Oscar winning movie Rain Man brought to the stage starring Mathew Horne and Ed Speleers, Ian Hislop and Nick Newman’s Wipers Times arrives direct from a record breaking West End season and classic drama My Mother Said I Never Should marks a welcome return for London Classic Theatre.There’s an abundance of shows for our youngest theatregoers with Teletubbies, Peppa Pig and Bing Live all making their way to the Devonshire Park Theatre for the first time. It is with much excitement that this brochure previews just a few of the shows coming to the Congress Theatre in 2019. The London Philharmonic Orchestra re-opens the venue, as they did when the Congress Theatre first opened back in 1963. Other shows confirmed and on sale include West End musical Rock Of Ages, and brand new family musical Madagascar. Be sure to keep a look out for more shows being announced over the coming months!And finally, it’s never too early to book your seats for this year’s pantomime, Cinderella starring Eastbourne favourites Martyn Knight and Tucker. When self-centred salesman Charlie Babbitt discovers his long-lost brother Raymond, an autistic savant with a genius for numbers, has inherited the family fortune, he sets out to get ‘his half’. As the brothers embark on a trip across America Charlie soon discovers that Raymond is worth more than he could have ever imagined…
Mathew Horne (Raymond Babbit) is best known for playing Gavin in comedy series Gavin and Stacey, as well as roles in The Catherine Tate Show and Bad Education. His most recent West End stage credit was The Miser opposite Griff Rhys Jones and Lee Mack. Ed Speleers (Charlie Babbit) starred as Jimmy Kent in Downton Abbey and played the lead role in fantasy Blockbuster Eragon.

Ian Hislop and Nick Newman’s The Wipers Times tells the true and extraordinary story of the satirical newspaper created in the mud and mayhem of the Somme. The Wipers Times is coming to Eastbourne direct from a record breaking West End season. In a bombed out building during the First World War in the Belgian town of Ypres (mis-pronounced Wipers by British soldiers), two officers discover a printing press and create a newspaper for the troops. Defying both authority and gas attacks, it proves a huge success with the troops on the Western Front.

Drive time 30 minutes from Hastings & Bexhill, 40 minutes from Brighton and 1 hour from Tunbridge Wells. Sat Nav postcode BN21 4BW. The venues are a 10-15 minute walk from Eastbourne train station.
