SCHOOL TOILETS
PARENTS DROPPING OFF ITEMS AT SCHOOL
Brackenhurst Primary School
Newsletter 16/2017
26 May 2017
Dear Parents
Quote for the Week:
APPEAL TO PARENTS:
This is, once again, an example of the disrespect some learners have for school property and
specifically the toilets. Wasting toilet paper!
We urge you as parents, PLEASE to stress to
your children the importance of respecting public property. Learners caught vandalising school
property will be severly dealt with.
IMPORTANT – PLEASE NOTE.
During the last few months we have relaxed the
ruling about items being delivered by parents for their child. However, as this is now being
abused and the front office staff receive more than 20 requests a day to deliver items to the
children, this will no longer be allowed.
As from MONDAY, 29 MAY 2017, only medication
such as asthma pumps will be delivered.
PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DELIVER PROJECTS, LUNCHES, ETC., AS THESE WILL
NOT BE DELIVERED TO YOUR CHILD.

WAKE UP PARENTS
Years back, poor illiterate parents produced Doctors
Engineers
Scientists
Accountants
Lawyers
Architects
Professors – whom I will refer to as
Group A
These Group ‘A’ children struggled on their own
after Primary 6 or Grade 12, to become notable
personalities. Most of them:
Trekked to school barefooted Went to farms
Fetched water and firewood Cared for domesticated animals
Did some work including trading after
school to survive.
Now Group ‘A’, who have now become Parents themselves are producing Group ‘B’ children.
These Group B children are:
Pampered
Helped in their homework or home
assignments from nursery school through secondary schools to higher
institutions Chauffeur driven to very expensive
schools or are sent abroad to study
They can watch movies from morning till
dusk after school
They are treated like baby kings and
queens They don’t do any household chores
Food is put on the table for them
Their plates are removed and washed by
parents or house maids
They are given expensive cars and
clothes Not forgetting big pocket money to be
wasted!!
Their parents help them in doing their
assignments In spite of all these, only few can speak
or write correctly.
Group ‘A’ parents cared for their own parents and children. Group ‘B’, their children are still
struggling to find their feet at age 30+!!
They find it difficult to do things on their own
because they are used to being helped to think and doing things by Group ‘A’. So they can’t help
themselves, their parents or the society. THEY ABANDON THEIR PARENTS IN THEIR BID TO
ACQUIRE THE WORLD.
Where do you belong?
Reduce the pampering and the
unnecessary help you offer your children Let your children grow in wisdom,
intelligence and strength.
Let them face the truth and the realities of life. Teach them to grow to become
independent adults.
Teach them to
Fear God
Respect others and
Develop confidence in themselves
Parents, discipline your children to become disciplined adults, useful and
not useless. Article by Dr Alok Kar
And finally Grammar Jokes:
If you leave alphabet soup on the stove and go out, it could spell disaster.
If practice makes perfect, but no one is perfect
then why practice?
GENERAL
PARENT’S CORNER
If two wrongs don’t make a right, then why does
a double negative make a positive?
It’s good to be awesome, so why is it bad to be aw”ful”?

STUDY COURSE
Session 1 – Friday 12 May (14:00 – 17:00)
Session 2 - Saturday 13 May (9:00 – 12:00)
Session 3 - Saturday 13 May (14:00 – 17:00) The study course is for learners from grade 4 up, and teaches children how to study effectively. We work
on learning through association, how to remember what we have learnt, how to plan ahead, and give tips
on how to answer a question paper.
A brain profile questionnaire is completed by each learner before the commencement of the course. Each
learner’s brain profile is then taken into account during the course in order to suit their unique
preferences. The cost of the course is R1000.00, which includes the brain profile, a MindPower CD, all
study material and a few extras for each learner to assist them with their newly acquired skills. The
course consists of 3 3hour sessions, which all need to be attended. Parents are welcome to sit in on the
sessions, especially session 2 where we learn how to make summaries. (Please let me know if you are
planning to sit in.)
I will make an appointment with you and your child – at least a week before the course - in order to
complete the brain profile questionnaire. A deposit of R400 is required to confirm the study course
booking and the brain profile appointment. The balance of the course to be paid on the day the course
starts.
The learners learn very useful and practical techniques during the course and they walk out of the course
motivated and ready to study.
Die studiekursus word in Afrikaans ook aangebied!!
