FeaturesBrightspace Learning EnvironmentCourse Conversion - Pearson eCollege package import improvements | Updated
There have been improvements to the way Brightspace Learning Environment imports Pearson eCollege course packages. These improvements include increased content consistency between D2L Quizzes and eCollege Quiz tools. The conversion tool inputs Pearson eCollege Webliography links into a course's Link tool, and converts eCollege DocSharing data into Content. Each course has a root folder in the Course Files area and course creators and instructors can add categories and sub-folders to organize the files.

Next Steps
There is no client disruption for this change. The change automates the process of importing data from Pearson eCollege content packages.
The links entries in Webliography are in an IMSManifest XML file that is imported directly into the Links tool.
Using Copy Course Bulk, use the Edit Course option to upload an unconverted eCollege content package containing Webliography or Doc Sharing content. You no longer have to manually recreate the content or links.
Brightspace Learning Environment - Customizable terms and conditions | New
Administrators are now able to add a terms and conditions page to their instance of Brightspace Learning Environment. Administrators can set the terms and conditions to have no expiry and users are only required to accept the terms if new terms and conditions are added. Administrators can set a date or a relative date at which users are prompted to accept the terms and conditions. Administrators can configure which roles are required to review the terms and conditions using the roles and permissions tool. They can also set the web site behavior for what happens if a user declines the terms and conditions. Administrators can export terms and conditions data to assist in identifying which users have accepted or rejected the terms and conditions.

Slight impact to instructors or learners due to change in log in steps.
This feature must first be enabled for your instance by a D2L administrator, contact your D2L Account Manager for more information.
Before this tool can be used, it must be configured by your organization's administrator. In the Admin Tools menu, click Organization Tools and select the Custom Terms and Conditions check box. The Custom Terms and Conditions roles and permissions must also be set up.
To add the custom text, from the Admin Tools menu, click Terms and Conditions.
You must have the permissions and config variables set before you can use this feature.
Users you require to review the terms and conditions must have the Required to Review Terms and Conditions permission.
Users that you want to be able to update the terms and conditions must have the Manage Terms and Conditions Permission.
Grades - Automatically set the grade item score based on a rubric score | New
When you click Save and Record in the rubric pop-up window, the Overall Score of a numeric rubric transfers automatically to the learner's grade. Click Save if you do not want to transfer a numeric rubric score to the learner's grade.
A score transfers automatically only when the rubric has an Overall Score.
This feature implements PIE item D1006.

Next Steps
Slight impact to instructors due to the new workflow to save and automatically record the learner's grade.
This feature is dependent on the existing configuration variable d2l.Tools.System.Features.GradingExperience. The default value for this configuration variable is Automatic transfer of rubric score to Grade Item.
The new rubric is not displayed when Competencies are enabled on a grade item as it has not been integrated with Competencies as yet.
When multiple rubrics are present in the rubric pop-up window, it is the Overall Score of the first numeric rubric that is automatically transferred to the learner's grade.
If you do not see this functionality, ensure that the d2l.Tools.System.Features.GradingExperience configuration variable is set to Automatic transfer of rubric score to Grade Item.
Grades - Final Grade Audit Log | New
A new audit log has been added to the Grades tool. A background task runs every hour to verify the calculated final grade (CFG) for each course where grade items have recently changed and the CFG is set to be kept up to date. The audit log lists any CFG that has been found to be incorrectly calculated (Previous CFG), and the change that has been made to correct it (Corrected CFG). D2L will be auditing these results.
Because the background task that populates the log runs hourly, the log might contain false positives if a grade item is modified at the same time as the task is running against that grade. If the task is running while a user is modifying a grade item, this item displays in the log after the next run of the background task, even though the user modifications to the grade item are retained. This continues until no further user modifications to the grade item are made.
Viewing the log requires the new Grades permission, See the Final Grade Audit Log, which is off by default for all roles. The log data contains username values. If organizations do not allow administrators to view usernames due to user information privacy, it is recommended that they do not enable this permission. Once enabled, administrators can access the Final Grade Audit Log from the Admin Tools menu.
