WELCOME!! Smell the popcorn, get your ticket. This year VBS is all about the kids making good choices.
Based on Joshua 24:15, this is SonWorld Adventure Park where kids will discover that choosing Jesus is the ticket to the best ride of their lives. At SonWorld Adventure Park, there’s no height requirement and the lines are short!
SonWorld Adventure Park kids will:
-Learn to make good choices, and how to choose Jesus
-play action games -make cool crafts -sing great songs
-eat yummy snacks -watch hilarious skits
We will be supporting Heifer International, a non-profit working to eradicate poverty and hunger through sustainable, value-based holistic community development.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
July 10-14
9:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon
July 10th, registration begins at 8:30
It’s that time of year again. The kids are out of school, the lawn mowers are running
and the gardens are planted. Summertime is a time when we look forward to that
well-deserved vacation and being able to get outside to enjoy the warmth of the sun.
Ah yes, rest and relaxation - it does a body and soul good! One of the things I like to
do when the weather is not too hot or cold is sit outside and listen to some of my
favorite music. I especially like to do that in the early morning hours and listen to the
birds singing. Relaxing is very important to our well-being. It restores us and helps to
keep us healthy and strong. Too much relaxation makes us lazy and weakens us.
Too much rest is not good; neither is too much work.
What we need to do is find balance in our lives.
In Matthew 11: 28 - 30 Jesus says this; 28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and
burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I
am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is
easy and my burden is light.” The place of true rest is when we come to Jesus. We live
in a dog eat dog world and everyone wants to be number one. The world works and
works trying to get ahead. The world tries to work twenty four hours a day seven
days a week. The world carries the burden of trying to obtain all the wealth they can
so that one day they can rest in luxury. The only true rest comes from resting in Jesus
and doing the work He has for us. As we look forward to enjoying our rest this
summer let’s not forget the work that God wants us to do.
Have a safe and restful summer!
See you in church!
Pastor Alan
CHRISTIAN EDUCATION
Sunday School & Bible Study
Truth Seekers Sunday School class will not
meet during the summer.
Summer Sunday School will start June 4th and run through Labor Day weekend. Grades K-2 will be taught by Erica Clary, Bethany Norris and Kayley Loughlin. Grades 3-5 will be taught by Linda Sayler, Heather Erwin and Judi Merrill. Grades 6-8 will be taught by Chris Mohler.
The Men's and Women's Sunday evening Bible Studies will not meet on June 4th, June 11th, or June 18th. They will both resume on June 25th.
The Women's Study will begin 'Living Life Together' by Shauna Niequist on June 25th. This four week study is being facilitated by Joni Smith. Do you resist community for fear of being judged? There are messy parts in all of our lives that we would rather not reveal...like strained relationships, sinking finances, and cluttered houses. We keep the doors of our hearts and homes closed for fear of being exposed. But what if we invited others in and experienced the beautiful acceptance and deep connection of Christian community?"
Kids Club
Greetings, Over the past few weeks, the Kids Club has been working on a puppet show about Samson. The puppet show is planned for June 11th which will also be our last scheduled meeting for this year. It's hard to believe that the year has passed so quickly. Teresa and I are excited to announce that three members of Kids Club will be moving up to Youth Group next year...Davis Irwin, Grayson DiPietro, and Abby Rice. We will certainly miss having you at our meetings but at the same time we are excited to watch you grow and to see what God has in store for you.
Teresa and I are very grateful for the opportunity to spend a few hours each week with your children. As always if you have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to contact me either via email or by phone. (email: c.mohler@myactv.net cell: 301-524-7728)
With Blessings, Chris and Teresa Mohler
"When Women Pray" will be meeting on June 13th and 27th at 10:00 a.m. at the church. If you have a prayer request, please leave it in the box outside the Pastor's office and the women will pray for you. The women are also visiting and praying with people in the church and community. If you know of someone in need of this type of ministry, please contact the Church office or Linda Smith. All women are welcome in this group. Please feel free to attend a meeting to find out more about us!
