“…many of his disci-ples turned back and

no longer walked with him. So Jesus said to the Twelve, “Do you want to go

away as well?”~ Gospel of John, ch. 6

“It may seem that there are many followers of Jesus, but if they were honestly to define the

relationship they have with him I am not sure it would be accurate to describe

them as followers. It seems to me that there is a more suitable word to

describe them.

“They are not followers of Jesus.

They are fans of Jesus.”

Why do you call me “Lord, Lord,”

Luke 6:46

and not do what I tell you?

It’s a { disruptive } question.

It’s a { revealing } question.

“...if you confess with your mouth that

Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you

will be saved.”

The Apostle Paul~ Romans 10:9

“The Christian commitment is distinguished in that it is a commitment to a belief about the meaning of the whole of

human experience in its entirety—namely, the belief that this meaning is to be found in the person of Jesus Christ, incarnate,

crucified, risen, and destined to reign over all things.”

It’s a { merciful } question.

Everyone who comes to me and

Luke 6:47-48

hears my words and does them,I will show you what he is like:he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the founda-tion on the rock. And when a flood

...arose, the stream broke against

Luke 6:48-49

that house and could not shake it,because it had been well built. Butthe one who hears and does notdo them is like a man who built a house on the ground without a

...foundation. When the stream

Luke 6:49

broke against it, immediately it fell, and the ruin of that house wasgreat.

~ Jesus of Nazareth inthe Gospel of Luke (8:13)

“…they hear the word, receive it

with joy. But these have no root; they believe for a while,

and in time of testing fall away.”

These words I speak to you are not mere additions to your life, homeowner improvements to your standard of living. They are foundation words, words

to build a life on.
