New Site Safety Requirement Enhancements
The following requirements will be effective in January, 2009:
• Site Safety Manager (SSM) to conduct daily checks of the standpipe connection and the valves at each floor below the construction floor
• SSM to conduct a weekly “tracing” of the standpipe to ensure that it has not been breached

Future Fire Suppression System Safety Requirements
•Uniform color coding of standpipe and sprinkler systems lines
•Licensed Plumber or Fire-Suppression Contractor and permit required to cut and cap standpipes and sprinklers during full demolition
•Standpipe alarm system for new buildings and demolitions
•Licensed Plumber or Fire Suppression Contractor to pressure test standpipe and sprinkler systems
The following requirements are currently being drafted:

Future Site Safety Coordinator (SSC) Requirements
• For New Building (NB) to be 25+ stories, SSC must be present when the building reaches a height of 20 stories
• For a building of 25 stories or more to be demolished, SSC must be present at demolition site when demolition begins and must remain until the building is demolished to below the 20th floor
• Commissioner may require additional SSCs to be present when necessary
The following Site Safety Coordinator Applicability Requirements are currently drafted:
