Buildings in Venice

In Venice,  the banks of the Grand Canal are lined with more than 170  old buildings and palazzos , most of them are dated to 13th – 18th century.     

Venice has a rich and diverse architectural style, the most famous of which is probably the Gothic style. 

   Venetian Gothic architecture is a term

given to a Venetian building style combining use of the Gothic lancet  arch with Byzantine and Arab influences.  

The Palazzo Contarini del Bovolo (best known for the external spiral staircase)

The Doge’s Palace

The Palazzo Santa Sofia

There are four bridges found on the Grand Canal, the Rialto Bridge is the first bridge  which  was built in the 19th century.
