Rule of the Week
Welcome back After a welcome break we are back for another term of hard work.
This term though, the hard work will result in a lot of fun when we
present Waltzin Kincumba in Education Week. Classes are rehearsing intently to bring you their best performances and tickets
are selling fast. A link to the ticket sales website is available from
the home page of our school website.
The children, school staff and I thank you for your support of their
effort. I also want to thank school staff, Mrs Donna Judd and Mr
Larry Katz, who came in on a number of days during their holiday break to get the hall and stage ready.
I also want to thank my husband for volunteering several days during the holiday break and dismantling and removing the old
playground equipment and helping Mr Katz to build the outdoor
learning centre up near the kinder rooms.
Central Coast Showcase and Festival of Instrumental Music
Our school has many talented children across a wide range of
pursuits and I’m pleased to be able to promote more of our
incredible students. Brody Upton of 3T is a member of the Hunter
Central Coast Wind Ensemble and will perform tomorrow night in the
Central Coast Showcase at the Laycock Street Theatre. Brody plays
trumpet and is one of the youngest members of the group.
Our violin group is also preparing for their part in the Festival of Instrumental Music at the Opera House on 8 August.. Central Coast Awards of Appreciation
I am delighted to be able to congratulate three members of our
school community who have been nominated for recognition at a
special ceremony next Tuesday afternoon at Brisbane Water
Secondary College. These awards are presented in appreciation of
service to public education on the Central Coast. Congratulations to:
Mrs Susie McCarey, who has volunteered hundreds of hours of time
for many years by covering library books and keeping the financial
records of the uniform shop. Susie has a magic way with sticky
contact book covering!
Mr Ted Cole, who has volunteered every day for a number of years
on our kindergarten classes. His kind and patient way with our
students has made him loved by us all! Miss Mary Liddy, who has worked tirelessly to build up community involvement and pride within our school’s Aboriginal community. Mary volunteers many outside of school hours time to develop great relationships.
Parent Forums
Thank you to all the parents who gave up their time to attend a
parent forum last Term and provide us with feedback. We
appreciate your time, your candour and your support. A summary of
results was presented at the P & C meeting last Monday and will be
presented to staff at a staff meeting. Some strong themes were
increased collaboration between parents and teachers and improved
communication. We look forward to establishing a school
improvement team of parents and staff who can pick up these
themes and develop them into an action plan for future
improvement.
Disco
Dust off your sequins, shine up your shoes and get ready to dance!
The P & C will be running a disco on 17 August. More details in next
week’s newsletter; but we need all the parent helpers we can get to
make it a great night for the kids. Please consider putting your hand
up to assist – email your offer of help to pckincumber@gmail.com.
Well done
I want to make mention of two boys who are working hard on their
self-development. Congratulations Joshua Siely and Justin Uzelac –
your persistence is paying off.
School Performance
Our school performance Waltzin’ Kincumba is ready to step up to the
next level of preparation. Rehearsals will become more frequent and
excitement will increase as we count down the days until we
perform.
Tickets are on sale online from tomorrow from a link on the front
page of our school website. Although we have not limited the
number of tickets or the number of performances that you can
attend, I would encourage everyone to think about being mindful
that everyone would like to see their own child perform.
The P & C supported our proposal to start school late on 4 August to
allow children to have a little sleep-in before two performances on
Thursday. School will start at 10.30am when we will have recess.
Children will be able to place lunch orders then and lunch will be at
1pm after the matinee. Supervision will be provided for students
who arrive at school at the normal time. A note will go home in the
week before the performance to give more details and for you to
advise whether your child will be starting late. Continue over

Rule of the Week
This week’s rule is “Walk on the paths”. When walking around the school, please stay on the paths. The
reason for this request is to prevent damage to the gardens.
You may have noticed when you returned to school that there
had been a lot of work done on the gardens. Mr Gary Willett, who works here regularly as a relief teacher, came in on most
days of the holidays as a volunteer and replanted and remulched
a number of garden beds. To respect the hard work of Mr Willett, Mr Katz and Mrs Conacher’s Green Thumbs Garden Group, we
need you to only walk on designated paths and protect new
plants. Walk on the paths and keep the school looking good.
Hope you had a great week at our great school!

ENVIRONMENTAL INFORMATION
„A Cleaner, Greener Environment - Give the Land a Hand‟
During the semester holidays there has been extensive planting of na-
tive flowering plants to enhance and compliment an area of school
grounds adjacent to the staffroom and covered walkway. „Westringia
Fructicosa,‟ a Native Rosemary and „Dianella Caerulea,‟ Blue Flax
Lilly being planted in clusters complete the project. Children of all
ages will be inducted as Environment MinisteRS and be actively in-
volved in the care of the garden and surrounds, creating an abiding in-
terest and a worthwhile activity in their leisure time. These experiences
will promote the growth and appreciation of the natural world and de-
velop healthy attitudes and responsibility for the conservation of our
natural heritage. In closing, a sincere thank you to school grounds
staff, Mr Larry Katz, for his invaluable assistance on the completion of
this project.
