Caice Cheetah Fan Coil Units
Fan coil units are the ideal solution for
providing localised air conditioning to ensure
comfortable temperatures in spaces of any
size. The unit consists of a fan which passes
air over a heating and cooling coil to condition
the temperature of the space it serves.
The unit’s coil is supplied by the building’s low pressure
hot water & chilled water systems meaning that it can be
installed anywhere where a water & electrical supply is
available. The simple nature of the product’s operation
makes for easy and cost effective installation in either
new build or refurbished offices, schools, hotels, houses
& apartments.
Thanks to Caice’s expertise in acoustics, our fan coil
units set the standard in low noise operation. The
modular nature of the product means that units can be
customised with built-in attenuation which guarantee that
they will achieve your noise level requirements.

Efficient & Cost Effective
Caice Fan Coil Units are designed and built for
efficiency offering reduced total cost of ownership
and full compliance with building regulations.
Our 300 series range features only Electronically Commutated
(EC) fans. These fans are up to 70% more energy efficient at
providing the same duty when compared to equivalent AC
motor versions. This lower energy consumption means less heat
transferred into the airstream when the fan is running, and this
helps to maximise the cooling performance of the fan coil unit as
a whole.
Our EC fan coil units offer a typical energy saving of 60W per
fan. On developments using large quantities of fan coil units, this
energy saving may lead to significant savings in other areas, for
example reducing the cooling capacity of chillers in order to
minimise capital expenditure and running costs..
Compliance
All of the efficiency characteristics of Caice’s fan coil units
support compliance with the SFP limits in the 2013 revision of
Building Regulations Approved Document L. Our 300 series fan
coil units offer SFPs in the range of 0.20 to 0.40 W/l/s. EC fan motors can deliver typical energy
savings of 60 Watts per fan, compared
to equivalent AC motors

Typical Performance
The five units in the Caice fan coil unit range have
been developed to provide effective thermal
performance even at low noise levels.
Based on typical design temperatures for cooling (air on/off
23/12°C, chilled water flow/return 6/12°C), and with a guide
noise level of NR35, the following sensible cooling duties can
be achieved.
Variable Air Volume
When used in conjunction with a Building
Management System (BMS) our fan coil units
fully support Variable Air Volume (VAV) operation
leading to further efficiency gains.
Operating in this mode & triggered by sensors connected to
a BMS, the fan coil unit’s motor speed can be adjusted
using a 0 to 10V DC signal.
Responding to environmental conditions means that under
normal requirements the fan motors can often be run below
full design duty. This is particularly beneficial when a space is
unoccupied, allowing a substantial reduction in speed
leading to significant energy savings along with reduced
noise levels. Equally fan speed can be increased to provide
additional heating or cooling for higher duty requirements
when the space is occupied.
We are also able to offer our units with an integrated low
cost controls package, enabling standalone and BACnet
operation.

Where a fan coil unit is being installed in or
serving a noise sensitive area we understand
the importance of making sure that the unit
meets the acoustic design requirement. We
also appreciate that this is a complicated issue
with many contributing factors.
Our unique Acoustic Design Service offers our clients
unparalleled support in this critical area of product
selection and design. We will undertake post-order
acoustic calculations to ensure that all units are selected
to meet the acoustic requirements of a project where
possible. We also carry out a pre-tender design review
where we are specified on an equal or approved basis.
This is why we can say with confidence that our acoustic
design service will guarantee that our fan coil units will
achieve a stated noise criteria, regardless of the
complexity of the installation.

backed by certified performance data in accordance with

Modular Design
Caice’s modular fan coil unit design allows a solution
to be built up from component options to suit the
needs of a project.
The modular offering consists of the fan coil core, a choice of
inlet & discharge plenums and a range of inlet and discharge
attenuators. Starting with a core unit, modules are added to
tailor the unit to suit the installation.
The design also allows for any unit to be re-engineered by
adding or removing components at any stage of the project
lifecycle to respond to changing requirements. This flexibility
offers significant cost savings over replacement of an entire unit.
This can be beneficial during the fit-out stage of a project where,
for example, changes in space usage can lead to reduced noise
criteria and the need to introduce attenuation.

Our Prestige Cheetah Fan Coil Units have
been specifically developed for residential and
hotel applications.
The units consist of the normal core unit, but also
incorporate our Prestige Discharge Plenum module. The
inclusion of the plenum adapts the unit for any scenario
where a rectangular discharge connection is required,
such as in hotels, residential apartments or an office
reception area.
In addition to providing a rectangular discharge, the
plenum also features a special acoustic lining which when
coupled with integrated attenuator modules can reduce
noise level values to as low as NR25.
Additional attenuation can be provided where very low
noise levels are required using the modular rectangular
inlet attenuators and extended length discharge plenums. Prestige rectangular discharge plenum
delivers noise levels as low as NR25

designed & brought to manufacture by our
own in-house product development team.
This is just the start of the journey, the same level of care
and attention to detail goes into every unit as it is
manufactured at our state of the art Production Centre in
Dorset.
Caice’s automated manufacturing facilities are the most
advanced in our industry. Taking advantage of integrated
software & control systems along with lean production
techniques helps us to produce high quality fan coil units
at low cost here in the UK.
We constantly strive for product improvement with our
on-going investment in fan coil research and
development. This leads to products designed to suit our
clients’ needs.
The cost savings we make in developing and
manufacturing the unit ourselves are passed on directly
to our clients ensuring that our product prices always
remain competitive.
Delivered On Time
We work with our clients at every stage of a
project, adapting to changing timescales to
make sure that our products arrive on site
exactly when they are needed.
Our team of delivery and dispatch coordinators make
sure that a delivery date is agreed & confirmed prior to
dispatch.
Each product is labelled and scanned onto pallets and
then wrapped securely. It is then loaded and scanned
onto the vehicle which is delivering it ensuring that all
items are loaded as agreed.
Finally we work with our team of hauliers to provide
appropriate transport to ensure that the delivery can
access the project site.
This close liaison and attention to detail mean that our
products are produced and delivered on time, leading to
a 99.8% On Time In Full (OTIF) delivery performance.

Summary Specification
Chassis
All units are manufactured from galvanised sheet
steel, incorporating core unit and multi-spigotted
or rectangular discharge plenums as applicable.
All edges are de-burred and formed inwards to
prevent exposure of bare metal.
Coils are mounted within condensate trays,
extended under the control valves and
connections, with fall to drain to overcome a
maximum of 50 Pa inlet pressure. Available with
top or bottom access.
Fans and Motors
Fans are double inlet, double width, direct drive
centrifugal type with high efficiency, low noise
forward curved galvanized steel impellers. Fan
scrolls are galvanized steel and all fan assemblies
are dynamically balanced in two planes according
to DIN ISO 1940.
EC (electronically commutated) motor variants
have external rotor motors and an IP42 rating. All
motors operate from a 230v/1ph/50Hz supply,
and have sealed for life, maintenance free ball
bearings with a life expectancy of 40,000 hours in
normal operation.
Heat Exchangers
Coils are manufactured from solid drawn copper
tubes, mechanically expanded onto aluminium
fins with headers suitable for 2 or 4 pipe systems,
and tested up to 15 bar. All coils are fitted with
manual air vents.
Coils are mounted within condensate trays,
extended under the control valves and
connections, with fall to drain.
Insulation
Units are insulated throughout with Class O open
cell acoustic and thermal insulation.
Filters
Standard filters are of the wire framed washable
type with a performance classification of up to G2
in accordance with BSEN779. Enhanced filter
performance of up to G3 can be provided on
request.
Condensate Drain Trays
Drain trays are constructed from galvanized steel,
with welded corners painted with corrosion
resistant zinc rich paint.
The drain trays are partially exposed to facilitate
easy cleaning or replacement on site if required.
Optional polyester powder coat finish can be
provided if requested.
Attenuators
Attenuator sections are fitted with internal linings
manufactured from galvanised expanded steel
mesh, and packed with controlled density
acoustic media (mineral wool), with fibreglass
tissue bonded to the rear of the facing.
Plenums
Multi-spigotted plenums utilise galvanized steel
circular spigots attached using screw fixings.
Where blanking plates are fitted in place of
circular splgots, these will have insulation to the
rear.
Rectangular discharge plenums incorporate a
duct connection facility, and utilise acoustic
elements to the same specification as
attenuators.

Condensate Pumps
Where fitted, condensate pump will be Little
Giant EC-400. Peristaltic pumps are available on
request.
Controls
All units are fitted with a speed control box fitted
to the side of the core unit via two locating
screws. The box features a hinged lid and is pre-
punched to accept the mounting of most
proprietary unit intelligent controllers.
Fan speed of EC motors is controlled via a
0-10v dc signal, which can be varied via a screw
head adjuster accessible from the outside of the
control box.
The control box may also be configured to allow
remote fan speed adjustment via an external
device such as a Building Management System.
A transformer option provides a nominal 24 volt
AC output for powering of associated control
devices.
All EC fan coil units can be optionally fitted with
an integrated controls package, allowing full
standalone operation or BACnet connectivity. A
range of valves, actuators, temperature sensors
and room modules are also available on request.
Electric Heaters
Where provided, electrical heaters will be via a
finned heating element with termination in a
metal control box, with 2-stage (low and high
temperature) cut-outs. Other controls or interlock
devices may be required to comply with I.E.E. or
other local regulations.
