Introduction • Cambrian Road is the primary east-

west arterial within Barrhaven South

• Provides connectivity for the community to the north-south arterials crossing the Jock River (Cedarview, Greenbank, Jockvale)

• Through developer draft plans, designs have been completed and are in various stages of the approvals process and construction

• Phase 1 and 2 were completed as part of the Barrhaven South CDP in 2006

• This study will: o review and overview of

these phases o amalgamate reports

produced prior and after the CDP

o summarize the findings in the final Environmental Study Report

Needs Assessment • Barrhaven South is the primary growth area

within Barrhaven, with a projected build-out of over 10,000 residential units prior to the urban boundary expansion (Barrhaven South CDP)

• Monarch Stonebridge, Mattamy Homes Half Moon Bay North and South, Tamarack Half Moon Bay and Meadows and Minto Barrhaven South are current developing communities

• The transportation network crossing the Jock River has been assessed in the Barrhaven South CTS and the infrastructure needs were identified

• The east-west arterial needs were not included and potential solutions for the community need to be explored

• Jockvale Road – Widen to 4 lane road from Strandherd to the Jock River

• Jockvale Road – Widen to 4 lane road from Jock River to Prince of Wales

• Greenbank Road – New four lane road from Jockvale to Cambrian with dedicated center transit lanes

• Cambrian Road – Widen to 4 lanes from Re-Aligned Greenbank to Jockvale

Pedestrian Plan Infrastructure • No facilities identified in future network plans

Cycling Plan Infrastructure • Proposed paved shoulder on Cambrian, existing Greenbank and

south on Jockvale

Needs Assessment Multi-Modal Form and Function: • Pedestrian:

• Arterial sidewalk facilities with connections to transit and recreational pathways

• Integrate community sidewalk connections

• Cycling:

• Community cycling route facilities to span the Barrhaven South community

• Integrate community cycling links

• Transit:

• Existing local route service with future connection to transitway facilities on Re-Aligned Greenbank Road

• Automobile:

• Satisfy capacity and geometric requirements for multi-modal service and community trips across to north-south arterial network

Project Need and Justification • Complete Phase 3 and 4 of the Municipal Class EA

process for Cambrian Road

• Explore the form and function of the ultimate design for Cambrian Road and its compliance with: o current City planning documents

o current City design guidelines

• Ensure Cambrian Road meets the needs of the developing community
