DIRECTIONS

Thy' spenl;in.g role is not to be treated in a usual measuredrecitation style in which the voice sim ply becomes anotherpercussion instrument. In this piece the actress has onlyentrance points (designated by arrows in the score) forthe first and last epigrams of each movement. The spacingns well as rhythmic or dynamic interpretation of the re-n-iinirg epigrams is left undetermined and up to the dis-cretion and taste of the actress. Any remaining epigramsmaybe spoken in the fermata'of the last movement.
