Since the storms of June 15 - 21, the town-

Thank You
The Planning Commission has spent the last few
months reviewing the Ordinances for our Township.
Many changes have occurred in the township since the
last review 10 years ago. This has been an excellent
opportunity for all members of the commission. We
expect that our review and revisions to the ordinances
will help to increase understanding and interpretation
of the ordinances. We will complete the review and
draft of the ordinance book this fall.
Thank you,
Monique Berg

Castle Rock township would like to construct a 20’ x
20’ shelter, similar to the picture below, to be erected at
the Countryside baseball park on Hwy 50. The town-
ship will provide the necessary materials, if you or
someone you know (ie Eagle Scout project, Boy Scout
troop, etc.) would be interested in volunteering to build
the structure. Please contact our office at 651-460-
2221. Thank you!

Thank you to all those who voted in the recent county
primary. People exercising their right to vote is the
foundation of democracy. I look forward to continu-
ing to serve the people of Castle Rock Township.
Your servant,
Mark A. Henry
School starts for the majority of Minnesota stu-
dents on Tuesday, September 4th.
The CapX2020 project began construction in April
2012 near the Cedar Mountain Substation (Renville
County) and the Helena Substation (Scott County).
Project staff are working with the landowners in west-
ern Scott County to purchase easements, as well as
conduct the detailed design and engineering work nec-
essary prior to construction. CapX2020 expects to
begin contacting landowners in Dakota County in late
2012 to explain the project and the easement process.
Right of way agents will first contact affected land-
owners by mail with project information, and follow
up by phone to schedule an in-person meeting. Initial
meetings are conducted to learn more about the affect-
ed property and discuss issues such a pole placement
and how properties are impacted.
A big thank you from the Empire
Rockets 4-H club for the use of the
Castle Rock Town hall for our month-
ly meetings. Your continued support
only makes our club grow stronger.
We had 31 youth exhibit at the Dako-
ta County fair in August, and over half of these young
adults will be exhibiting at the State Fair!
Thank you to the citizens of Castle Rock for your
confidence in voting me in to be a Board Supervi-
sor. I will do my best to represent you wisely. Do
not hesitate to call me with your questions or con-
cerns.

Road Grader Etiquette
Wild parsnip mimics dill
weed in fields and along
roadsides. When the sap of
this invasive plant comes in contact with skin, it
can cause a rash, blistering and discoloration of the
skin. For more information contact the MN DNR
at (651) 296-6157 or http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/
invasives/terrestrialplants/herbaceous/

Passing working graders is acceptable, though at
your own risk. Please keep in mind the following
tips. Reduce speed and maintain a distance of
about 75-100 feet between your vehicle and the
grader. Be especially vigilant in hilly areas. Cau-
tion is urged when attempting to cross wind rows
created by the grader. Be advised that occasional-
ly the grader may blade against traffic.
