extremis. 4
Hi there,
When I started off Extremis 14 years ago, I had a couple of things in mind that you could call the pillars or the foundations I wanted my company and my designs to be based upon. These key factors are still valid today and they are all equally important: innovation, quality, intelligence, functionality, added value and top rank service. If one of them is either not present or weaker than the others, I refuse to proceed with a certain product or a service. Moreover, way back in the early days, I also decided to add yet another key factor: ecology. Likewise, it had to be as important as the other factors. Little did I know this would become such an important topic for the world we live in today.
Men with beards
If we just take a small step into history, and go back to the times of Extremis as a young company, we go back to the days when mobile phones were still about as heavy as a bowling ball and the fax machine was a proud replacement for the old telex machine. Likewise, people who promoted ecology and cared about Mother Earth grew beards and had a bumper sticker promoting solar energy. The diehard ecologists from those days could now and then even be spotted on television, risking their lives whilst chasing a huge whale hunting vessel with a Zodiac boat.
Accepting the consequences
price. However, if you ask 100 people if they care about the ecologic factor in a product, obviously they all agreed. If you then tell them that that product is more expensive than the non-ecologic equivalent, you can imagine what the answer will be. And as a designer and a company it is tempting not to give in to this.
Global awareness
Thanks to all kinds of initiatives, however, global awareness is growing rapidly when it comes to preserving what is still left of our beautiful planet. And I dare to say, that brands who ignore the ecologic factor will suffer sooner or later. It will have to become part of any company’s management strategy. We have the advantage that our range of Tools for Togetherness had the ecologic input from day one and we are sure that, combined with all the other key factors, this can lead to one end result: a happy customer. Hope you are one or will be one very soon. Enjoy our new catalogue,
Kind regards,
Dirk Wynants

The Gargantua table offers superior functionality thanks to its adjustable benches that can be changed in height depending on social or family circumstances. There is a level for adults, for small and tall children, or the bench can be used as an extension of the table top. Seating for 8–12 people. Provides ample space for the occasional family reunion or dinner with friends. If one bench is removed, people in wheelchairs can also join the table. Our InUmbra ø

InUmbra is unique because of its pure aesthetics, making every moment a very relaxing experience. No pulleys or opening devices hinder the eye. Easy to open and close: the parasol opens and closes by means of a separate handle.
All technical parts that open and close the screen are above InUmbra’s UV resistant fabric and consequently are not visible when seated under the parasol. InUmbra is available for the Gargantua and Arthur tables and as a

The brackets can be used as handgrips or for hanging the accessories onto. The barbecue can be closed with a lid and is made of stainless steel. Its frame as well as the frames of the other products of the ExTempore range is made of anodised aluminium, its joints of stainless steel and the table top of Jatoba hardwood.
Remove the stainless steel cover plate and enjoy authen-tic charcoal grilling.

DollyPop
From an ecological point of view, we make this cuddly wine cover from what’s left over when we make the Dolly seating pads, so no material gets lost at all!
DollyPop helps your cold bottles stay cold longer in sum-mer, but likewise it will keep a bottle of red wine stay at a perfect temperature in a cold environment.
DollyPop is for use with white wine and champagne bot-tles. Unfortunately, some champagne bottles might not

DollyPop missionIsolating … both ways. It might seem a contradiction but, remember that isolation always functions in two directions. And that’s the fun part: an animal’s fur pro-tects both against cold and heat.

In times long past King Arthur gathered twelve of his best knights around the legendary ‘Round Table’ to ask them to help him bring peace and tranquility to the country. Today, this table still remains symbol of justice, equality and joy in life.
This member of the Extremis family, appropriately named ‘Arthur’, is synonymous with encounter, communication, gathering, hospitality, togetherness with Extremis’ characteristic attention to functionality, form and technique.

Place the Serpentine wherever you want. Plug your regular garden hose to the end of the stainless steel tube and your shower is ready for use.
Serpentine is a garden shower with an attractive and practical design. The added value comes from the light con-struction which provides very easy mobility in the garden.
A major advantage is the plug and spray feature. No longer any problems with pressure pumps or permanent con-structions, just plug in the hose, open the tap and have a shower. Because the hose is exposed to the sun, the water inside the hose and the Serpentine heats up and has a nice temperature.

wood logs and the result is pure magic. Singing a song or telling a story while looking at the constantly changing play
It is a very original and heartwarming form of togetherness that sometimes people even refer to as “the television set of the jungle”. Obviously, options like individual grills, skewers, blankets, and yes, a poncho also form a part of this
Qrater missionBringing people together, allowing them to talk, play music or sing, enjoy nature, even if it is a cold night. The rest is up to your imagination: shall we sing a song, cuddle up and tell a story or have some food?

QraterWhen you desire a little bite, you can use two grill op-tions. These are individual tools, with which you can prepare a small snack like a marshmallow or a sausage. You can use the skewer for small pieces of meat and for bigger pieces you have the grill. The skewer and grill are optional tools for the Qrater.
Below: optional standards and grills. Each standard holds a skewer. The individual grill rests on the standard.

The design is based upon a true horse saddle and provides the same ergonomic comfort as the real thing. Bronco really has you seated in the best possible position for your back. Additionally this attractive stool even offers a space to place a drink when not having a table around.

BroncoWhat can be cosier than telling heroic tales around the
we did experience, is that a drink often gets tipped over
around.
To enhance the storytelling atmosphere even more, Extremis opted for the comfort of a true horse saddle. You can put your drink perfectly in the middle of the stool. A leather strap relates even more to the saddle and also is the perfect handle to move or carry the stool. Moreover, it protects your drink from tipping over.
The horse saddle shape also promotes an active and straight-up seating position which is good for your spine. Not a luxury though, Qrater nights can be long...

people lounge and hang around on big, soft pillows. A water pipe is being shared, soft words are being spoken, all is said… We played around a bit with the correct spelling of the word beehive, but once you have experienced BeHive no more words are needed. BeHive creates exactly this feeling. Take part in the hive, become the hive, ‘be the hive’,
BeHive mission-
while also offering the perfect spot to sit and lounge, have a brainstorming session with your team, or receive guests in a very unconventional way. Disadvantage: Those who like to stay long, now even stay longer. Providing breakfast may be needed.

BeHiveThe concept is based upon a round fabric which is sus-pended about 60 cm above the floor. You can choose to either sit, lean or hang against the very comfortable side cushions. The seating surface itself also provides maximum comfort and automatically adapts to the shape of your body thanks to the suspenders that surround and support it. The fabric is also connected to the middle so that the lounging comfort remains the same for all the people seated, independent of the number of people. Finally, the surface also is sufficiently stable to walk to one of the four exits of the hive.
Boasting a 4-meter diameter, BeHive can provide maxi-mum comfort to everybody inside. Although this exceeds the maximum capacity, BeHive has already been used by more than 20 people at the same time.

middle. The hole in the middle of the seating fabric allows a straight seating position. BeHive actually com-bines many types of seating furniture in one, and needs no extra lighting after sunset.
The fabric covered dome transforms BeHive into a hive for like-minded souls. We haven’t yet found a solution to one problem though: if you invite friends over who used to stay late before, you will never get them home now...
Anyway: BeHive is yet again a fantastic ‘tool for together-ness’ and has a huge potential to give you wonderful and relaxing nights. And who knows, it might also reconcile opposite cultures.
