DESCRIBE THE PRESENT AND ORIGINAL (IF KNOWN) PHYSICAL APPEARANCE
The Boyle-Williams House e. 1877 is a 2\ story .frame house located down a long lane on the west side of Route 222 just north of the Oakwood turn-of.f. The farm complex includes the house, main barn, grainary, and wagon sheds. The main house has an east/west axis with the present main facade facing east.
The 2\ story main block is 3 bays across by 2 bays deep. Moderate alterations have occurred with the additions o.f single story shed roo.f extensions on the south and west sides and a gabled porch addition on the east gable end. The roo.f has a medium pitch and is covered with asphalt tile. A small stretcher bond stove stack protrudes out o.f the central section o.f the roo.f.
The east facade is 2 bays across with the entrance in the southern bay. The window trim is plain with 2/2 sash windows. Two four pane attic windows .flank the 20th century exterior brick stove stack. The eaves to the roo.f are extended and so.ffits are sloped. The other sides of the house do not offer much in the way of variation from these basic elements. The interior was not accessible.
Th.e barn buildings that accompany the farm are sturdy examples or late 19th century barn forms. The main 2 bay barn rests on an uncoursed stone basement. The timber frame. is covered with board and batten siding, and a baek entrance is located on the west side. There is a shed extension on the east side. The roof is covered with slate. The grainary is located to the west o.f the barn. The wagon sheds are located next to the grainary and .form. a courtyard effect.
