Lesson Theme: People living in the Indus River Valley created a civilization 4,500 years ago.Lesson Objectives:1. Locate and describe the Indus River Valley.2. Enumerate the achievements of Mohenjo-Daro and Harappa.3. Explain the migration of the Aryans into the Indus River Valley.

Where is the Indus Valley ?The Indus Valley is on the border between India,Pakistan and Afghanistan.The main city may have been Mohenjo-Daro but it could have been Harappa.

To the West of Mohenjo-Daro are the Highlands.North East of Mohenjo Daro are the Himalayan mountains.

It had a large, well designed public bath and excellent systems for drainage

There were brick-lined sewers throughout the city

Many houses in Mohenjo-Daro were two stories high and they had places on the roof where people could go to

stay cool

Many houses had chutes for throwing out trash

Homes and public buildings had wells for fresh water
