WHY WhyTry? Students rank ordered the top reasons

they fall behind in school.

Top 2 reasons:1) The work is too hard (I’ve stopped trying)2) I don’t care about school; I lack

motivation

Process Data Group met once per week during 2nd

Trimester, using WhyTry curriculum. Students completed Progress Reports Students were offered

tutoring/mentoring opportunity with Manual HS students late in the trimester. Only a few students took advantage of the opportunity.

Implications Areas for improvement:

I could have been more consistent with use of progress reports. It was difficult to get students and teachers to fill these out.

Students didn’t start meeting with high school tutors until late in T2. It would have been better if I had been able to find enough tutors for all students.

Next Steps: Need for continued support in T3 for struggling

students Daily check-ins in addition to weekly group meetings

for struggling students
