GREETING OF THE GREEK MINISTER OF CULTURE & TOURISM MR. PAVLOS YEROULANOS FOR THE POROS CHARTER YACHT SHOW
W e welcome the initiative taken by two major Associations representing the Owners of Greek-flagged Yachts “Hellenic Professional Yacht Owners Association” (HPYOA) and “Hellenic
Yacht Brokers Association” (HYBA) to organise the “Charter Yacht Show-Poros 2012”.
Throughout the years, the Poros Charter Yacht Show has managed to establish itself as one of the most acclaimed and prestigious yacht shows in the Mediterranean region.
Apart from the actual yacht viewing and the business opportunities presented, the show is an excellent opportunity for charter professionals of the world, owners of luxury Charter yachts, brokers and other companies of maritime tourism to exchange their views and knowledge on the topic of nautical tourism.
As Ministry of Culture & Tourism - we continue to support this initiative as we strongly share the exact vision of the Organising Committee, that is the development of nautical tourism in Greece, a segment of our tourism portfolio that has great potential for further development.
Acknowledging the opportunities presented by the extensive coastline of Greece, its unique archipelagos with its numerous island and islets of incomparable natural beauty, along with the cultural richness of its coastal communities, the support and further development of nautical tourism has become a strategic objective, and integral part, of the 10 year strategic plan that has been agreed by the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and Tourism, representatives of the private sector in tourism, and representatives of the majority of parties of the Hellenic Parliament.
It is our strong belief that only through the constant and consistent collaboration between public and private sector the best for our country can be achieved
We need to combine our expertise, our knowledge and eagerness for work, if we want Greece to become an example of best practise in nautical tourism and the yachting industry in the Mediterranean.
The Ministry of Culture and Tourism welcomes all participants to the Charter Yacht Show in Poros this year.
With sincere regards,
Pavlos YeRoulanos Minister of Culture & Tourism

GREETING OF THE MINISTER OF CITIzEN PROTECTION MR. MICHALIS CHRISOCHOIdIS FOR THE
POROS CHARTER YACHT SHOW
Dear friends,
A long historical maritime tradition, the numerous island destinations and the extraordinary features of the sea landscape make Greece a truly attractive cruise area and a unique sea tourist experience.
The Greek Government acknowledges the sea tourism sector as a key growth driver to fuel the economy and a corner stone of a new highly competitive economic model. Greece is on track to implement a coherent structural reform programme for a new, competitive, productive and business friendly economic environment. Significant reform efforts have been made in the direction of establishing a more competitive and stable regulatory framework to upgrade and boost maritime industry. Undoubtebtly, achieving the full potential of the sector requires hard and continuous effort.
The role and competence of the Ministry of Citizen Protection lie on ensuring a safe and secure maritime environment. The growing sea tourist activities in Greece require stability, security and a high sense of responsibility. The operational readiness and advanced technological equipment of the Hellenic Coast Guard guarantee the security of navigation and yachting activities. The Ministry of Citizen Protection ensures that the individuals and professionals who choose Greece as their cruising destination can enjoy absolute safe sea and port areas and high quality services by the Hellenic Coast Guard.
Your experience and ideas as to how we could improve our services are highly welcomed. I wish you all a fruitful and pleasant stay with great sailing experiences.

GREETING OF THE dEPUTY MINISTER OF CULTURE & TOURISM MR. GEORGE NIKITIAdIS FOR THE POROS CHARTER
YACHT SHOW
T he initiative of the Hellenic Professional Yacht Owners Association, with the collaboration of the Hellenic Yacht Brokers Association, is commendable for the effort to organize, for the 11th
year, a successful international event, the CHARTER YACHT SHOW – POROS.
Greece, the country with the longest coastline in Europe, the largest number of islands, a long history of maritime activities, lost in the centuries of time, remains one of the most desirable world destinations for sea, yacht and leisure holidays.
Maritime tourism is reflected in multi-faceted activities, and for its development many ministries are collaborating. The sector’s development is one of the main targets of the tourism strategy being implemented by the government, over the last two years.
Indeed, we have successfully implemented actions in numerous tourism areas, with the impressive result that 2011 has been a historically record year; however, we do recognize that in the area of professional yacht charters we have not gone as far as we would have liked.
We still have much to do, to further develop all aspects of maritime tourism, with a main emphasis on yachting.
The country’s geomorphology, in the Ionian, in the Cretan and in the Aegean Seas, the long standing Greek maritime traditions, and the extensive professional experience of the Greek yachting professionals, ensure for the visitor – charterer an unparalleled unique experience in the Greek seas, among the Greek island and in coastal areas.
We are optimistic that 2012 will finally end up being a similarly successful tourism year, and we hope we shall see positive developments in the area of professional yacht chartering. I assure you that the government recognizes the importance and the potential of this tourism sector and will support the professional of the sector, as much as possible within its abilities under the present economic circumstances.
I wish every success to the CHARTER YACHT SHOW - POROS 2012, to the participants and to the visitors, and that at the end of it you shall have had a gainful experience.

GREETING OF THE PRESIdENT OF GREEK NATIONAL TOURISM ORGANISATION MR. KONSTANTINOS zIKOS FOR THE
POROS CHARTER YACHT SHOW
Dear friends,
I am honoured to be given the opportunity to address the participants of this 11th edition of your Charter Yacht Show. As the President of the Greek National Tourism Organization I should not
omit to mention that the Show is set against a wonderful backdrop: the pregnant-with-history island of Poros, with its picturesque capital and its exquisite architecture.
We all acknowledge the fact that sea tourism is a very dynamic alternative form of tourism for our country. And that is not just because of number matters, nor because of the fact that it can give an enormous boost to the national economy. First and foremost, it is because of the comparative advantage of Greece over its competitors.
The Greek seas, covering all shades of blue and green, the marvelous Greek islands that are a dream destination for visitors from all over the world, the thousands of miles of coastline forming a second to none seascape, the abundance of natural and artificial ports, and the maritime tradition of the Greeks. In the view of all the above, it’s no wonder Greece is the ideal destination for yachting. Tourists interested in this kind of activity have been proved to present an ever-increasing demand for our country. Your Charter Yacht Show has substantially contributed to that increase.
It is a great pleasure for us in the Greek National Tourism Organization to find the goals of the Show within the scope of our interests and efforts: enhancing the quality of sea tourism and upgrading the services provided in its field, establishing Greece as a world-class destination for sea tourism, setting a cooperation network and stretching it towards Greek and international partners. What is more, we have always supported this tourism sector, as we have always regarded it as a guardian of quality and an example of professionalism.
It has been said that we are going through some difficult times for Greece. Nevertheless, I am sure you are strong and willing enough to make the best of your potential and intensify your efforts with the purpose of keeping this thriving industry in full glory. The uniqueness of the product called “Greece” with its incomparable virtues constitutes a win-win situation for you. I am optimistic about the next day in Greek yachting and I really hope you share my optimism.
I wish you success and prosperity.

GREETING OF THE MAYOR OF POROS MR. dIMITRIOS STRATIGOS FOR THE POROS CHARTER YACHT SHOW
Dear Participants in “Charter Yacht Show - Poros 2012”,
O nce more, it gives me a great privilege and it is an honour for me to address, as Mayor of Poros, the annual most important activity for yachting in our country and the broader area. The
gathering of the fleet of fine and powerful boats in our inlet waters is almost a tradition. For the people of our island is like a repeated flow of beauty.
Major events, such as the show, give the community of ship-owners, agents and suppliers, crews, visitors and travellers the opportunity to schedule this year’s programme and look for happenings in the long run.
Our people have also an eye for the programme, as Poros has been, is and will remain interested in the yachting industry, as the island has an important marina, and possesses one of the few so well protected inner seas in the world. One beach is always calm and available for swimming, in spite of any winds and weather conditions.
On the other hand, social events during this weekly activity mark the beginning of the summer tourist season. It is like the coming of the swallows. Shortly after Easter and the long of the hot months of the year, Poros has an almost endless calendar of celebrations, religious feasts and festivals that offer our visitors unlimited entertainment prospects.
So, welcome sea-swallows; Poros opens its heart to you. Enjoy your stay; promote your commerce; and become the strong instrument of pushing the national seafarer instinct of the Greeks.

MR. PANAGIOTIS KAMMENOS FOR THE POROS CHARTER YACHT SHOW
Greetings!
O ne would think that in a time when my country struggles to stay afloat, that I would find it hard to greet you with an optimistic and positive outlook. Not at all. We have every reason to believe
that this season is going to be as good as ever. Why? Because Greeks always have an annoying way of landing on their feet. Because our yacht crews are capable people with the wish to present Greece at its best. Their continuous education in off season secures that our yachts are always manned with persons who know how to do their job, and do it well. And last but so definitely not least, because our seas are still blue and emerald and attractive. Nobody can ever take that away from us. Not yet anyway.

PIRAEUS PORT AUTHORITY S.A.
C elebrating 80 years in 2010, Piraeus Port authority, runs and operates Piraeus Port, the
largest port in Greece and one of the most important ports in east Mediterranean. The Port provides ser-vices to liner ships of any size and type including lux-urious cruise vessels and high speed coastal ships.
The Port of Piraeus, is located at the same area as the ancient Athenian port, which at its peak in 5th century BC was the most important trade center of the then known world. In fact, a cruise passenger can see the ancient protective walls of that period immediately upon disembarking.
Today, Piraeus port, with more than 20 million passengers’ throughput every year, its typical Mediterranean climate with extended periods of sunshine throughout most of the year, is still an ideal hub for reaching the market center of Athens and the famous Parthenon as well as multiple tourist attractions in the east Mediter-ranean including Santorini and Mykonos.
Piraeus is an environmental friendly port with:
• Environmental Management system cer-tified according to the Port Environmen-tal Review System (PERS)
• “ECOPORT” certification in the frame-work of ESPO guidelines
• Implementation of environmental quality monitoring programs
• Reception facilities for all categories of ship wastes
• Faster turnaround and environmental ben-efits through permanent reception network
Piraeus invests in the Cruise Sector with:
• Expansion of the southern port with 6 new cruise berths more than 400m each
• A new berth under construction with 230m length
• A recently expanded Terminal B
• The construction of a Monorail shuttle around the port that is fully approved
• A public tender for the construction of a 5* hotel adjacent to the main passenger terminal.
