"Then who can be saved?" Jesus looked at them and said,
"For human beings it is impossible, but not for God. All things are possible for God."
The man in the Gospel of Mark today “ran up” to Jesus, eager to know how “to inherit eternal life.” How quickly his demeanor changed when Jesus, looking on him with love for having kept the commandments, challenged him to one thing further: he must give up everything and follow Jesus “to enter the kingdom of God.” Following Jesus demands that we choose not to be possessed by things, but by Jesus himself. To be possessed by Jesus we must even give up our greatest possession of all: our very selves. Living God’s commandments puts us on the path to eternal life!
As I reflected on the Gospel this week I spent a lot of time on Jesus’ statement: "For human beings it is impossible, but not for God. All things are possible for God.” Many of us pray fervently in our times of most need whether it is for a personal or family issue or for help in dealing with personal illness or of a loved one. Pope Francis has recently come out with a new book titled: “Pope Francis: Embrace of Hope, Compassion in Times of Illness.” I recommend all those facing illness or that of family members, caregivers and health care professionals to read it as the book is filled with the Pope's insight and inspiration for all who face the test of sickness and illness. The book has the best of Pope Francis’s reflections on this challenging human experience. Pope Francis shows how hope is found in seeing and experiencing illness in the light of the Good News of Jesus Christ. “Difficult moments become the path to forge stronger relationships with family, communities, and with Christ.”
Is Jesus tapping you to serve His Body and Blood by becoming a Eucharistic Minister or proclaim the Word of God at Mass? We are always in need of new Eucharistic Ministers at Mass or for bringing the Body of Christ to the homebound as well as new Lectors. Training begins for Lectors on November 3 and for Eucharistic Ministers on November 10. Please see me or Fr. Marcin for more information.
Monday, October 15th is the last call to sign up for the celebration of all our married couples who have reached a significant milestone in their marriage – 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50 or 50+ years. Please see the details and the sign-up coupon on the last page of this Bulletin for this grand occasion on Saturday, October 27th at the 5pm Mass and a buffet dinner thereafter in the Parish Hall!
God Bless You all! Have a wonderful and beautiful Autumn week. Fr. Jacek

OUR NEW TUESDAY MORNING STUDY GROUP
Join us every Tuesday, 8:30am-10am, in the Parish Center. The topic for this session will be “Heresies.” There are no ‘new' heresies; Gnosticism, Arianism, Pelagianism and others reappear today under different names. Learn how to defuse some ticking time bombs that threaten the very fabric of our culture and the Church in our time. Ideas do matter. Looking forward to seeing you there!
CALLING ALL CHILDREN IN GRADES 1, 3, 4 & 5!
The Children’s Liturgy of the Word will begin October 14 at the 10:30am Mass. You will be invited to join teachers who will explore and explain the readings
