Staff News Of course the big news is that Mrs Docherty will be your
next Headteacher. What fabulous news! Mrs Docherty had
to fend off strong candidates, but she impressed the
governors with her determination. We are now starting the
process to find a new Deputy Headteacher to step into
Mrs Docherty’s shoes. That’s a big challenge for someone!
Our student teachers have started their practice in Y5, Y1
and Reception classes. All is going well so far, the children
are enjoying the lessons and the student teachers are
doing a great job.

Parking and using the Parish
Centre entrance We have seen a huge improvement in the parking
around school since we introduced the banners and
the parking cones. Thank you so much. The children
and families who walk to and from school are now
feeling much safer.
We have a little problem with the gate through to the
Parish Centre. Some families are using it as a short cut
from Church Road into school.
The manager at the Parish Centre is getting a little
anxious as there are cars moving about on their car
park at that time of day.
To make sure that we keep children safe, the gate
will be locked after each time School Shuttle pass
through it. Of course all the other gates on Moorland
Grove, Captains Clough Road and Brooklands Grove
will remain open.

Christmas Market Wednesday 29th 3:45pm
We wanted to say a huge thank you to the School Shuttle team who have really helped
us out recently by providing transport to local trips and visits FREE OF CHARGE! We are so
pleased to have them working with the school to provide before and after school care as
well as holiday care for our children. Thanks Guys, we really appreciate it.
If you would like to talk to School Shuttle about the services they provide you can contact
them through their website www.schoolshuttle.co.uk or by phoning them on 01204 416990
Thank you for your generous support. It’s not gone un noticed! You have been very generous with your donations
over the past few months. From paying for trips to dynamiting items for the
Christmas Market, you have been magnificent. When you were asked to
write three words that represented how you felt about our school (back in
2015) the word care came up time and time again.
We are a caring school and your children get that message to care about
others from the adults around them at home and at school. It’s a great
quality to have.
The tombola's for the Christmas Market are looking well
stocked, thank you. The Children in Need final
total was £321.56. Mrs Dodd is organising
fundraising for the Y6 trip to Bibby’s Farm. Thank you so
much to all those who have donated to the silent
hamper auction. The Y6 team are just looking for a few
more items, if you can spare any
new or gently used:
Board Games
Children's Books
Garden Supplies eg: pots, bulbs, trowels, seeds.
They would be gratefully received, I know.
Snow! Those of you who have been here a while will know that we don’t make a fuss about snow. We try to
stay open when possible, and we celebrate by playing out in it, whenever we can. If it starts snowing overnight, you will get a text message to say we are closed. Please don’t ring the
school to check, we need the lines free to hear how teachers are doing on their journey. If we haven’t sent a text, the school is open. You can also check on the Bolton Council website, which is
where the radio stations will look before giving out school closure information. If it starts to snow when we are in school we will try to stay open. If we need to close, we will send a text message asking you to pick up WHEN YOU CAN. As children are collected, the staff who live
furthest away will set off home, with staff who live closest to school waiting with the remaining children. It has worked well in previous years.
If you could resist ringing school to find out information, that would be really helpful. We have 320 families in school, 320 phone calls is just impossible to manage! Thank you!
Attendance Our attendance has had a bit of a dip recently.
We have had a few coughs and colds amongst
the children, which is unfortunate, but can’t be
helped.
We are coming up to the time when we award
100% badges to those children who have
managed a full term of attendance. There is also
the excitement of silver 100% badges for those
who have managed two consecutive terms of
100% attendance. At the last count there were
about 150 of you who have been present every
day this term, so keep up the great work. The
badges will be given out in January.
Our attendance for October was
94.5% And our attendance for the year so far is
95.1% Let’s see what we can do in December!
Christingle at St Peter’s Church Our choir have, once again been invited to
St Peter’s Church for a carol service at 5pm on
Sunday 17th December.
This year it will be a special service as each
person who attends will be able to make their
own Christingle.
Even if your child is not in the choir, you are
very welcome to
attend. It’s usually a
lovely service that
gets you in the mood
for Christmas and is a
great way to teach
children why we
celebrate Christmas
every year.
Eco Council Switch Off Fortnight
All classes have been participating in Switch off Fortnight to learn about saving energy. The Eco council have carried out an energy audit to discover if energy is being wasted around school. Fruity Fridays
Please take part in the Eco Council challenge and bring fruit as a snack every Friday. The first one was an overall success, however, if even more children join in on our Fruity Fridays it will give their class a chance to win a special reward at the end of each term!
Christmas at Church
Road
Lots of information
here –read carefully!
We are beginning to think about Christmas in
school, even though it’s still November. Our fun
starts on 4th December when the first of our
Christmas plays start. Ten performances in a
week, phew! EYFS will be performing “The Sleepy
Shepherd” KS1 are surprising us with “Christmas
with the Aliens!” and KS2 are performing a brand
new play “Gimme Gimme Gimme!” Ticket order
forms have now been sent home. We can
allocate two tickets per family for each
classes play.
On 13th December we will welcome NWTAC into
school to do two performances of
Dick Whittington
We love a good pantomime “Oh yes we do!”
They will do two performances in the morning, so
that we can fit all the children into the hall.
Nursery pm children will also get the chance to
come in. Mrs Nelson will sort that out.
Week beginning 11th December sees the parties
starting. Check the dates for your diary section to
see when your little ones have a party. Last year
we didn’t do party food, and the children were
quite happy to have additional time to play
games, so we’ll do the same this year. On the
day of their party, the children may come to
school in their party clothes, but please bear in
mind they have playtimes throughout the day so
they will need sensible shoes and warm clothes.
Our Christmas
dinner is on 19th
December.
That’s always a
popular day!
We finish for
Christmas at
normal times on
20th
December. We
will all be ready
for a break by
then!
Photos and Videos during the Christmas plays
are not allowed. There are some children in
school who cannot be photographed. There
will be an opportunity to have photos sent to
you digitally, free of charge of course. Look
out for the photographs and order forms
after each show.
Congratulations to all these children who had 100% attendance in the month of October
