Citing an Online Database Reference Article

using NoodleTools

Analyze the article to determine the proper format

Some databases provide additional source citation

information at the end of the article

Pull down window to select citation type: Reference Source

Keep the default

Click Next

Select Online

Click Next

You’ll be citing the article—not the

entire reference book

This is an encyclopedia

Click Next

The print information is located at the bottom of

the article in the Source Citation

Double check here to ensure you are using the

proper citation format

Place the information in the correct field. Note that any field with an asterisk is a must!

Specify page numbers of the entire

article if given

Fill in the first, middle, and last name of your editor. If you have more than one

editor click Add

You may truncate your URL to the domain level

You may stop the URL at the .com

Here is where you will place your annotation

Check for errors

Scan the form and correct any errors

Update the citation
