City of the future

What are the challenges of today‘s cities?

• Increasing no. of world population living in cities

(Today: 50%; 2050: est. 66%)

• Overcrowded inner cities, desolate outskirts

• Large production of waste, waste water and pollution

• High energy and raw material consumption

• Congestions, lack of parkings, smog

• Unacceptable noise level

There are a couple of solutionsto specific problems?

Traffic

• Modern public transport systems

(high-speed magnetic levitation train)

• Electric cars

• Car sharing

• City rental bikes

Energy

• Renewable energy (solar, photo-voltaic, wind, water)

• Modern energy storage systems

• Green buildings

• Power grids

• New information and communication platform

• Separation of waste

• Recycling

• Wastewater treatment

• Water conservation and reuse

• Anti-noise barriers

• Speed limit

• Ban of night flights

• Sound-absorbent walls

But is there a solution which solves it all at once?

Vision of a two-level city

Surrounding:Energy & raw materials

Under ground: Traffic, parking, waste

Above ground: Working, living, recreation

And the benefits ?

And for the city probably lower costs

No cars, no waste, no pollution, no noise

Only more recreation time
