The Press
“The script reflected the modern Indian
ethos, with all eight characters distilled to
near perfection and easily identifiable as
someone all of us know. This
characterization immediately established a
rapport between the audience and the
players on stage who were able to fling the
sense of fun they were having right across
the room.” -Khaleej Times, Dubai
“Da Cunha’s play is about the intangible tricky
thing called human relationships. There’s a
tight plot with lines that come fast and bang on
time. While the play makes you think a little
and wonder how much you really know your
friends, it certainly doesn’t lose the shining
quality of entertainment that is etched in every
aspect of the production.”-Indian Express,
Chennai
The Press“It is hard to believe
that Class of ’84 is
Rahul da Cunha’s
debut play as a writer.
Harder still to believe
that words can be
handled with such
precision.” -Tribune,
Chandigarh
“Great acting, excellent light
and sound, a beautiful theme
song combined with
innumerable lines of wit and
barb that kept popping and
loads and loads of real-life
sentimentality - the 80-
minutes long play kept the
thousand strong audience at
the open-air stage truly
regaled.” – The Hindu,
Hyderabad“The premise of the play offered potential for feel-
good banter and a dash of intrigue. But writer-
director Rahul da Cunha looks beyond sitcom
banter and suspense. And if he does that with
commendable poise, that’s thanks to some
brilliantly etched characters which are the mainstay
of this Rage production” – The New Sunday
Express, Bangalore
The Team:Produced by RAGE Rage’s journey started in 1992 with Are there Tigers in the Congo? The Rage trio, Rajit Kapur, Shernaz Patel and Rahul da Cunha, have since produced some of India’s more memorable productions - I’m not Bajirao, which ran for over a hundred shows, Class of ’84 (which has completed over 200 performances and is still going strong), Pune Highway (about to complete a 100 shows. This show has traveled to Germany, Holland, UK and Malaysia), Girish Karnad’s Flowers (bringing together some of the greatest talent from around the country) and most recently One On One, Me, Kash & Cruise, Chaos Theory (all three of which have crossed the 50 show mark). Rage have not only regaled audiences in India, but also in Amsterdam, Antwerp, Bonn, Dubai, Korea, London, Malaysia, Muscat, Singapore, Sri Lanka and the USA. The company is also the force behind the playwriting programme, Writers’ Bloc, which has resulted in two successful festivals in 2004 and 2007 with a third festival scheduled for January 2012.
