All hardware on this set is specially coated for corro-sion resistance. If non-Creative Playthings hardware
is used, it must be galvanized or stainless steel.

STEP ONE - Remove Wall SlatsDeterminethesideofthegymtoinstalltheMonkeyBars.TheMonkeyBarsmustbeplacedsothattheydonotinter-ferewiththeplayareasofotheraccessoriessuchasswingsorslides.NootheritemshouldbecloseenoughforchildrentoencounterifcrossingorfallingfromtheMonkeyBars.InpreparationforinstallingtheMonkeyBars,removeallWallSlatsfromthechosensideofthegym.Do not position the Monkey Bars near enough to a slide that a child encounters the Monkey Bars with any part of the body while sliding.

STEP TWO - Base Rail to End LadderPlacetheEndLadder(D)onthegroundwiththescrewsthatsecuretherungsfaceup.PlacetheBaseRail(B)acrossthebottomoftheEndLad-derwiththecounter-boredholesfaceup.FastentheBaseRailtotheEndLadderusingtwo5/16x4-1/2"HexBoltAssemblies,asshown.
STEP THREE - End Ladder to Top Ladder
* Note: a Hex Bolt Assembly consists of one Hex Bolt passing through one Lock Washer and one Flat Washer, threaded into one Weld Nut.

FliptheEndLaddersothescrewssecuringtherungsarefacedown.Position theTopLadder (C)with thescrewssecuring therungsfacedown.PutoneendoftheTopLadderbetweentherailsatthetopoftheEndLadder.SliptheTriangleBrac-es(F)betweentherailsoftheEndLadderandTopLadder.BoltthetopholesoftheEndLadder assembly to the TriangleBraces and the end holes on theTopLadderusingtwo5/16x3"HexBoltAssemblies.
Withthehelpofanotherperson,lifttheTopLadderandEndLadderintopositionshownbelow.
Fasten each Triangle Brace to the TopLadder usingone5/16 x 1-1/2"HexBoltAssembly.FasteneachTriangleBrace tothe End Ladder using one 5/16 x 1-1/2"HexBoltAssembly.

STEP FOUR - Mounting BlocksForClaytongymfastenoneMountingBlock(A)andoneL-Brace(G)toeachrailoftheTopLadderasshownatright.NotethepositionoftheholesontheedgeoftheMountingBlocks.Use5/16x3"HexBoltAssembliesthroughtheRail,theL-Brace,andtheMountingBlock.Use5/16x1-1/2"HexBoltAssemblies to secure each L-Brace to theMountingBlockandtheTopLadderRail.ForNorthbridgegym,fastenaMountingBlockandL-BracetoonlyonerailoftheTopLadder.Leaveopenthesidead-jacenttothegymcornerpost.Fornon-standardinstallations,iftheMonkeyBaristobemountedadjacenttoacornerpostomittheMountingBlockonthatside,unlesstheposthasaseamthatwillinterferewithmountinghardware.

To mount to a Corner Post see the next page.LifttheMonkeyBarinpositionasshownbelow,withtheMount-ingBlocktightagainsttheWallSupport.Adjustthepositionofthewallslat,ifneeded.Mark the position of the holes in theMountingBlock onto theWallSupport.Drill3/8"diameterholesthroughtheWallSupportatthemarks.Secureusingfour5/16x4-1/2"HexBoltAssembliesasshown.

STEP FIVE - Mount to Northbridge Perform this step if mounting one side of the Monkey Bars to the gym corner post.

Lift theMonkeyBar intopositionasshownbelow,with theMountingBlock tightagainsttheWallSupport,thetopLaddersnugagainstthebottomoftheWallSup-portandtheTopLadderRailagainsttheCornerPost.Adjustthepositionofthewallslat,ifneeded.MarkthepositionoftheholeattheendoftheTopLadderandtheholeintheL-Braceontotheadjacentfaceofthepost.Drilla7/32"diameterhole2"deepintothepostateachmark.MarkthepositionoftheholesintheMountingBlockontotheWallSupport.Drill3/8"diameterholesthroughtheWallSupportatthemarks.SecuretheMountingBlockusingfour5/16x4-1/2"HexBoltAssembliesasshown.SecuretheotherrailoftheTopLaddertothecornerpostusingone5/16x3-1/2"LagScrewandFlatWasher.SecuretheL-Bracetothepostusingone5/16x2"LagScrewandoneFlatWasher.Use a 1/4" diameter drill to create pilot holes for the Lag Screws.
FastentheL-BracetotheopenrailoftheTopLadderusingone5/16x1-1/2"HexBoltAssemblyinthepositionshown.AlignthecornerholeintheL-BracewiththeholenearesttheendoftheTopLadderrail.

STEP SIX - Ground Stakes
STEP SEVEN - Wall Slats
MakesurethattheBaseRailisfirmlyonthegroundandtheMonkeyBarsarestable.HammeraGroundStakeintotheground1"to2"fromeachend of the Base Rail. Drive the Ground Stakes approxi-mately1/8"belowthetopedgeoftheBaseRailasshown.Fasten theGround stakes using two #8 x 2-1/2" Screwseach.Alternatively,theStakescanbedrivennexttotheoutsiderailsoftheEndLadderandfastenedtotherailsusing#8x2-1/2"ScrewsNote:DoNOTuseconcretetosetGroundStakes.Simplydrive them in to theground. Inhardor rockysoil,driveametalspikeorrodasapilotholeforthewoodenstakes.
IftheMonkeyBarismountedinastockposition,theWallSlatsshouldbeplacedproperly.Ifthisisanalternativeinstallation,fillanyopenspacesusingWallSlatsremovedinStepOne.LeavetheareabetweentheTop LadderRails open for access. Evenly space theWallSlatsandfastenthemusingthescrewsfromStepOne.WARNING: To avoid serious injury or death, the space between Wall Slats or any other members MUST be less than 3-1/2" or greater than 9".Avoidcreatinggaps lessthan1/2";thegapsmaycausefingerentrapment.
