Green County‘s Permanent Clean Sweep Collection site presents farmers, & home owners with the opportunity to dispose of old, banned, or unwanted chemicals. Small business owners can also dispose of hazardous chemicals at a reduced cost.
Hazardous Materials for Disposal
Waste chemicals include any type of weed, insect, fungus or rodent killers, but also include sanitizers and other chemicals. Pesticides become wastes when they can no longer be used. Hazardous waste materials include banned products, products damaged by moisture, contamination or outdated products.
Handling Hazardous Materials
Leave all materials in their original containers.
Do Not mix the contents of different containers.
Securely pack materials in a plastic lined container before transporting.
Keep the hazardous material away from children and animals
disposed.
Proof of Green County residency required. Participants with more than 50 pounds of
household products or 200 pounds of agricultural products must pre-register by calling the Green County Landfill at 608- 897-8605 before bringing their materials
All items should be properly identified.
We reserve the right to reject any item that does not meet the intent of the program.
Funding for this program is limited and the program will be suspended when the annual allocated funds are depleted.
Materials will only be accepted by authorized personnel during normal business hours from May1 through October 31.
Clean Sweep General Guidelines Business Collection
Small businesses needing to dispose of hazardous materials may do so for a fee by working through Veolia Environmental Services. If materials are brought to the landfill site on days of normal scheduled pickup by Veolia the cost will be reduced for the business as they will not have to pay the normal mobilization fee for pick up. Businesses must call the Green County Landfill at 608-897-8605 for pre-registration information. Veolia Environmental Services will then provide businesses with a free non-binding price quote for disposing of their hazardous materials.
