“ It is important that Statoil continues to be very good within
research and development so that the production of oil and
gas has low emissions in its production process. It is a
need for oil and gas in the future, and it is important that we
are doing it with as little carbon footprint as possible.”
Erna Solberg, Prime Minister, at the
Annual Autumn Conference 15.11.15
“We aim to be the world’s most carbon-
efficient producer of oil and gas.”
“Business as usual is not an option”

Climate Roadmap ambitions
Grow in renewables and
low carbon solutions
Build a high value, lower
carbon portfolio “We will
develop our
business,
supporting the
ambitions of
the Paris
Agreement”
…All investment
decisions are
evaluated against
our climate
ambition
We aim to reduce
emissions with
3 million
tonnes/year
accumulated
from 2017 to
2030
We aim to reduce
our carbon
intensity to 8kg
CO2/boe in 2030
We expect low
carbon R&D to
account for 25%
of research
funds in 2020
Methane
emissions in the
gas value chain is
below 0.3% of
gas produced for
Norwegian gas to
Europe
We expect 15-20
% of our
investments to
be in new energy
solutions in 2030

• Ca. 500 kr/tonn i CO2 avgifter NOx avgift ca 10 kr/kg
• Verdien av gassen settes til 1 kr/Sm3
• 1 Sm3 brenngass gir ca 2,3 kg CO2 og 0,012 kg NOx
• 1 MW elektrisk kraft generert med 37 % virkningsgrad krever c.a 2 150 000 Sm3
brenngass i året
• Det gir kostnader på ca. 2 400 000 i CO2 avgifter, 2 150 000 NOK i tapt gass og ca
250 000 i NOx avgift

(2014)
• Reduksjoner på 1,2 millioner tonn tilsvarer
årlig utslipp fra ca. 750 000 biler
- Hver tredje personbil i Norge
- Hele bilparken i Hordaland, Rogaland og
Oslo (2014)
