SELF-ASSESSMENT… …Developing a Post-Secondary Plan

OBJECTIVE: What do “the numbers” tell you? Class rank, GPA, test scores… What options are available at this point? How do you address these issues?

SUBJECTIVE: What do you like to do? What do you do well? Where do you see yourself in the future? What do your parents, teachers, coaches, and friends see?

Do they match? …If not, what can you do?

Your CCR Portfolio can help with self-assessment

Colleges treat ACT and SAT equally, but not every student performs equally well on both… Counselors will compare pre-tests and advise!

Free ACT/SAT test prep available on your Naviance account!

Individualized score analysis is available by typing in your personal code

What are SAT Subject Tests?- Required by only 14 colleges in the country- Should be taken as close to the end of a subject as possible- Students need to research which colleges need which tests- ACT may sometimes be substituted in lieu of subject tests

“More than 1000 four-year colleges and universities do not use the SAT or ACT to admit substantial numbers of bachelor-degree applicants” www.fairtest.org

Test Optional an Option?

* In Pennsylvania, there are over 50 Colleges and Universities that have a test optional application option.

*In 2016, Temple University became the first national public research university in the Northeast to make standardized test scores optional for admission
