Welcome to the Children’s Corner

The Haverhill Firefighting Museum has always been a hit with adults but when families came, children were often done long before the adults. Who could blame them - in a museum you’re not supposed to touch!Museum Mascot Dottie the

Dress up and Play

The Children’s corner has dress up gear for kids so they can play on the fire truck dressed like real firemen!

Gear for all ages!

Our new 12-foot wooden fire truck

A young boy dressed in fire gear pretends to put out a fire.

A young firefighter rushes to a fire with Dottie riding shotgun.

Where is My Fire Station?

A map of the city helps children locate their home and the fire station closest to them.

This hose and reel allows children to experience what it feels like to pull the hose and attach it to the fire truck.

Two boys attempt to hook the hose to the fire truck.

A female firefighter attaches the hose to the fire truck.

Children learn how the Gamewell Alarm System worked with an Operational Gamewell.

Children learn how to crawl beneath smoke in the Fire Prevention Smoke Tunnel donated by The Greater Haverhill Exchange Club.

Where we go from here

The Children’s Corner

There is so much we want to do to enhance the experience children have when they visit the museum!

We want to add computer and communications technology to the fire truck, and add interactive displays that teach children history and fire safety.

We would like to add a play ambulance, and a fire pole with thick mats.

We need protective floor padding in the entire Children’s Corner.

We are creating a third grade classroom curriculum to bring into school classrooms.

We are continually enhancing our field trip tours when classrooms and groups visit the museum.

For Adults and Families

We are creating a timeline display of firefighting uniforms and apparatus from colonial times to present day.

We need a ramp for handicap access.

We would like to extend our hours.

We would like to start firefighting history tours in Haverhill.

We need your help
