Suresh kalmadi, the Congress party representative to 15 LokSabha from the Pune constituency.
He was the Chairman of the Organising Committee of the Delhi Commonwealth games.
Kalmadi’s conduct at the 2010 has come under scrutiny 2010 Commonwealth Games
The Commonwealth games scam as it is known
involved large scale misappropriation of money
during the preparatory phase and conduct of the
2010 Commonwealth games held in New Delhi.
The total value of the scam is estimated to be
70,000 crore.
Issues that were brought into concern were
involved for raising many political and
administrative aspects that ruined the part of
Commonwealth Games (CWG) Scam 2010.
There are various other issues that were also brought
into focus like maintenance of the venues were
delayed and programme management had a flop
show out of the desk to make a big mess of
Commonwealth Games Scam 2010.
The charge sheet said that “Kalmadi was the main
accused as he was the person with all the supreme
powers.
In addition to Kalmadi, the CBI named two
companies along with Kalmadi and persons
including former Secretary Lalit bhanot.
The initial planned amount was Rs.1,000 crore but later
it was revised to Rs.2,460 crore
The amount spend on Jawaharlal Nehru stadium was
961 crore
On Ferozshah kotla stadium was 85 crore
On Indira Gandhi stadium was 669 crore
Dhyan chand hockey stadium was 262 crore

Kalmadi and Bhanot were sacked from the Organizing Committee by the Sports ministry on Jan 2011.
Shunglu panel was constituted by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to go into the irregularities in the conduct of the Games.
After his arrest on 25 Apr 2011, Suresh Kalmadi was suspended by the Indian National Congress.
He was however restrained on 25th July 2012 by the Delhi High Court from partipating in the opening ceremony of the London Olympics, saying his participation can cause ‘embarrassment’ to the nation.

has refused to even quit his posts in Olympic
Association with tacit support of Congress
party. India was humiliated in world stage
when World Olympic Association.
The scam was unearthed by CAG even before
the conduct of the games. Presently the scam
is being probed by the CBI.
