ORGANISATIONAL SUPPORT CATEGORY

Organisational Support and Seniors Citizens Organisational SupportGrants of up to $5,000 to support the general running costs and regular activities of community based multicultural organisationsGroups with 60% of members born overseasand over the age of 60 are eligible forSeniors Citizens Organisational Support.Seniors groups can also access publicliability insurance

Supports out-of-hours, not-for profit community language schools within Victoria. There are four subcategories available:

Support for new and existing community languageschools – Grants of up to $5,000 are available tocommunity language schools, NOT funded under theDepartment of Education and Early ChildhoodDevelopment’s Community Language SchoolsProgram, to assist with establishment and operatingcosts.

Professional Development of Teachers – Grants ofup to $10,000 are available to support groups ofcommunity language schools develop languagespecific teaching and learning materials.

COMMUNITY  LANGUAGE  SCHOOL  PROGRAMS

Student in-country study toursGrants of up to $2,500 to support community language schools provide short-term, overseas student-in-country study programs.

Materials DevelopmentGrants of up to $5,000 to support groups of community language schools develop language specific teaching and learning materials.

COMMUNITY  LANGUAGE  PROGRAMS:  CONTINUED

Multifaith activitiesGrants of up to $10,000 to bring together different faiths and community groups, or continued projects by established interfaith networks

Interfaith NetworksGrants of up to $20,000 for projects that assist in the establishment of new interfaith networks, or build capacity and sustainability in existing interfaith networks

MULTIFAITH  AND  INTERFAITH  NETWORKS  CATEGORY

Grants of up to $20,000 are available for projects that address the unmet needs of Victoria’s culturally and linguistically diverse communities.

Activities that increase capacity within emergingcommunities and multicultural networks to self-manage and engage in community life.Provision of assistance to migrant and refugee womenand/or young people.Heritage projects documenting the contribution ofmigrants and refugees in Victoria.Activities addressing disadvantages and/or provideinformation and service.

STRENGTHENING MULTICULTURAL COMMUNITIES

Participation:

Reaching out to the broader

community, youth, seniors.

Focus on inclusiveness.

Cultural Heritage:

Preserving and sharing cultural

heritage with the next

generation.

Cross-Cultural:

Bringing together diverse cultures where

possible.

MULTICULTURAL FESTIVALS AND EVENTS

A festival is an occasion for celebration that occurs ona one-off or semi-regular basis, such as once a year.It’s about culture first and foremost.Municipal councils cannot apply (however, can auspice).Grant requests over $10,000 should contact the VMC.

Examples include:National Day Celebrations involving the broadercommunity;Cultural Day celebrations including performances;Conferences relating to culture; andPerformances of culture.

ONLINE APPLICATION PROCESS

Key points to remember:Make sure you enter your email address correctly-emails about the grants process may be sent to you;Continually save your work as you go so you don’t lose your work when the system times out after 60 minutes;Read each section carefully and fill out all relevant fields.Stick to the word limit- it is generally 250 words; Make sure you SUBMIT your application at the end by pressing the SUBMIT button; andYou will receive an email copy of your application- if you don’t, there has been a problem.
