CONCERTO CLASSICS debutta ufficialmente sul
mercato all’inizio del secondo millennio (l’anno
del grande anniversario bachiano) e si caratterizza
subito per il suo interesse alla musica e ai musicisti
italiani, approfondendo specialmente le espressioni
del Barocco, del ‘700 e del Novecento Storico.
Radicata anche geograficamente al “centro”
dell’Europa, avendo sede a Milano, Concerto
Classics si è assunta quasi naturalmente la
vocazione di interpretare e di diffondere nel mondo
questo incalcolabile patrimonio musicale (che
considera un bene di tutta l’umanità), insieme al
talento dei suoi numerosi interpreti.
Il trait-d’union delle sue proposte si ritrova pur
sempre nella passione – rimasta sempre intatta
negli anni – che anima produttore ed interpreti
nel riproporre sia grandi capolavori, che opere e
compositori ancora da riscoprire: gioia e passione
che l’etichetta si augura di trasmettere nelle sue
produzioni, diventando, per chiunque lo desideri,
una sorta di “Ca’ Zojosa” della Musica (la “Casa
Zojosa” fu infatti la celebre scuola mantovana
fondata agli inizi del 1400 da Vittorino da Feltre
ispirata agli ideali umanistici: in essa sapere,
bellezza e svago erano perseguiti con uguale
determinazione). Così anche Concerto Classics
insegue un ideale di bellezza che si riflette, ad
esempio, nella cura esclusiva delle copertine,
affidate ad alcuni pittori contemporanei italiani,
per lo più figurativi. Inoltre, la perfezione tecnica,
costantemente inseguita, intesa sia come qualità
tecnologica che artistica delle incisioni, è uno dei
punti fermi dell’etichetta, che cerca di migliorarsi
costantemente in una continua ricerca d’eccellenza.
CONCERTO CLASSICS was launched on the
market at the beginning of year 2000 (the same
year of Bach’s 250th anniversary). The Label is
mainly focusing on Italian music repertoire as
well as Italian composers, by widening one’s
knowledge of baroque music and antique music
up to the 18th century as well as contemporary
classical music. Concerto Classics, very central
in Europe located with its headquarter right in
the center of Milan, has always proposed this rich
musical source (which is deemed as heritage
for all humankind) thanks to a great number
of very talented Italian Artists. What is common
among all the various productions is surely the
great passion and enthusiasm which brings
both interpreters and publisher to present well-
known works, as well as less popular ones, but
still interesting themes to be discovered yet. Joy
and passion which the label wishes to convey in its
productions, thus becoming for whoever wishes a
kind of “Ca’ Zojosa” of music (Ca’ Zojosa indeed
was a known school close to Mantua founded
in early 1400 by Vittorino da Feltre inspired
by humanistic ideals in which knowledge and
beauty and pleasure were pursued with equal
determination). In the same way Concerto
Classics pursues an ideal of beauty which is
reflected for instance in great care of exclusive
covers, ordered to some contemporary Italian
Artists, mostly figurative one. More over Concerto
Classics has always been paying great attention
to guarantee high artistic level and improving
continuously digital sound characteristics in
every production, namely an on-going research
for excellence.

CONCERTO CLASSICS fait officiellement son entrée
sur le marché au début du deuxième millénaire
(l’année du grand anniversaire de Bach) et le
label se caractérise aussitôt par l’intérêt qu’il
porte à la musique et aux musiciens italiens, en
approfondissant en particulier les expressions du
Baroque, celles du 18ème siècle et du 20ème siècle
historique. Enraciné au « centre » de l’Europe aussi
géographiquement, puisque son siège est à Milan,
Concerto Classics s’est naturellement donné la
vocation d’interpréter et de diffuser dans le monde
ce patrimoine musical inestimable (qu’il considère
un bien appartenant à toute l’humanité), ainsi que
le talent de ses nombreux interprètes.
Restée intacte au fil des années, c’est la passion qui
constitue inéluctablement le trait d’union entre les
propositions musicales du label. Une passion qui
anime les interprètes et leur producteur, qu’il s’agisse de
revisiter des grands chefs-d’œuvre ou bien des œuvres et
des compositeurs à redécouvrir : une joie et une passion
que le label souhaite transmettre dans ses productions
en devenant, pour quiconque le souhaitera, une sorte
de « Ca’ Zojosa » de la Musique (la « Casa Zojosa »
fut en effet la célèbre école de Mantoue fondée au début
des années 1400 par Vittorino da Feltre, inspirée des
idéaux humanistes : dans cette école, savoir, beauté
et amusement étaient poursuivis avec la même
détermination). Aussi, Concerto Classics poursuit
également un idéal de beauté qui se reflète, par exemple,
dans l’attention exclusive portée aux couvertures
de disques, confiées à des peintres contemporains
italiens, des peintres figuratifs pour la plupart. De plus,
la recherche constante de la perfection technique,
entendue aussi bien comme qualité technologique que
qualité artistique des enregistrements, est un des points
clés du label, qui tente de s’améliorer constamment
dans une recherche continue de l’excellence.

CONCERTO CLASSICS im großen Bach-Jahr
Anfang 2000. Schnell wurde das Interesse an
italienischer Musik und italienischen Musikern
zum Markenzeichen des Labels – insbesondere an
der Musik des Barocks, des Settecento und des so
genannten „Novecento Storico“ – des Zeitraums
zwischen den beiden Weltkriegen. Mit Sitz in
Mailand, also auch geografisch im Zentrum
Europas angesiedelt, hat es sich Concerto Classics
zur Aufgabe gemacht, das reiche musikalische
Erbe Italiens zu interpretieren und zu verbreiten
– ebenso wie das Talent und das Können der
zahlreichen Musiker. Denn schließlich ist Musik
ein Gut für die gesamte Menschheit.
Was alle Produktionen verbindet, ist die über
die Jahre hinweg unveränderte Leidenschaft, die
das Label und die Musiker dazu inspiriert, große
Meisterwerke ebenso wie bisher noch unbekannte
Opern und Komponisten neu zu interpretieren.
Die Freude und Passion, die die Produktionen
vermitteln, machen das Label zu einer Art „Casa
Zojosa“ der klassischen Musik. (Die „Casa Zojosa“
war eine berühmte Schule im italienischen
Mantua, die zu Beginn des 15. Jahrhunderts
von Vittorino da Feltre gegründet und von den
humanistischen Idealen – Wissen, Schönheit und
Vergnügen – geprägt war, denen in der Casa
gleichermaßen nachgegangen wurde.) Auch
Concerto Classics verfolgt ein Schönheitsideal, das
sich beispielsweise in der exklusiven Ausarbeitung
der Cover durch zeitgenössische bildende
italienische Maler widerspiegelt. Darüber hinaus
ist die technische Perfektion – sowohl im Hinblick
auf die technische als auch auf die künstlerische
Qualität der Aufnahmen – einer der Fixpunkte
des Labels, das beständig bestrebt ist, absolute
Exzellenz zu erreichen.

Musical scholars unmask Mozart the Plagiarist Mozart plagiarised the music of an Italian contemporary for the last section of his great Requiem Mass at a time when he was dying, badly in debt and short of ideas, it was claimed yesterday. Two musicologists researching in the Naples Conservatoire archives said that they have discovered the manuscript of a symphony by the 18th-century composer Pasquale Anfossi, and immediately noted “an uncanny resemblance” to motifs in the Mozart Mass”.

Giovanni Benedetto Platti nacque a Padova, o
dintorni, il 9 luglio del 1697, e morì a Würzburg
l’11 gennaio 1763. Fu importante e significativa
figura nel panorama musicale del XVIII secolo.
Allievo, a Venezia, di Francesco Gasparini, nel
1722 emigrò in Germania dove entrò a servizio
del principe vescovo di Würzburg Johann Philipp
Franz von Schönborn. Nel febbraio del 1723 sposò
la cantante Therese Maria Langsprücker, anch’ella
attiva nella Cappella vescovile, dalla quale ebbe
almeno otto figli alcuni dei quali seguirono le
orme del padre. Giovanni Benedetto trascorse
l’intera vita a Würzburg, distinguendosi per le sue
raffinate doti musicali e la sua abilità in qualità di
compositore, cantante, clavicembalista, violinista,
oboista, violoncellista, dedicando parte della
sua attività artistica anche all’insegnamento del
canto. Le Sonate per cembalo rivestono un ruolo di
primaria importanza rivelandosi opere di sentita e
profonda espressività. Tutta la produzione di Platti
mostra l’intento di ampliare gli orizzonti stilistici
dell’epoca, partendo da una matrice squisitamente
barocca per arrivare a toccare punte di classicismo.
Nell’offrire il suo significativo contributo alle linee
evolutive della sonata clavicembalistica, Platti ha
un suo preciso ruolo nella transizione dall’eredità
barocca, delineata da ardite costruzioni concettuali,
a quella pre-classica, connotata dall’essenzialità,
dalla precisione e “naturale” razionalità, al punto
da poter essere considerato uno tra i più significativi
maestri del “nuovo gusto”. Da aggiungersi che,
secondo alcuni studiosi, Platti può essere stato un
sostanziale punto di riferimento per le composizioni
tastieristiche giovanili di Joseph Haydn e di
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
Giovanni Benedetto Platti was born in or near
Padua on July 9th 1697 and died in Würzburg
on January 11th, 1763. He was an important and
major participant in the musical world of the 18th
century. In Venice, he was a student of Francesco
Gasparini; in 1722 he emigrated to Germany where
he entered into the service of the prince and bishop
of Würzburg, Johann Philipp Franz von Schönborn.
In February 1723 he married the singer, Therese
Maria Langsprücker, also part of the bishop’s
choir (Cappella vescovile) and together they had
at least eight children, some of whom followed in
their father’s footsteps. Giovanni Benedetto spent
his whole life in Würzburg, and became known
for his refined musical talent and his ability as
a composer, singer, harpsichord player, violinist,
oboist, cellist and he even dedicated some of his
time and talent to teaching singing. The sonatas
for harpsichord are notable, showing profound
and heartfelt expressiveness. All of Platti’s work
demonstrates his intention to broaden the stylistic
horizon of the time, starting from a quintessential
Baroque foundation and evolving to touch in edge
of Classicism. In making a significant contribution
to the evolution of harpsichord sonatas, Platti
plays a particularly decisive role in the transition
from Baroque marked by daring conceptual
constructions, to Pre-classicism known for its
essentiality, precision and ‘natural’ rationality, so
much so as to be able to be considered one of the
most important maestros of the “nuovo gusto”. It
should be added that according to some scholars,
Platti may have been a major reference point for the
youthful keyboard compositions of Joseph Haydn
and of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

Il a été un figure importante et représentative du panorama musical du XVIIIe siècle. élève de Francesco Gasparini à Venise, en 1722 il émigra en Allemagne où il entra au service du prince évêque de Würzburg, Johann Philipp Franz von Schönborn. En février 1723, il épousa la cantatrice Thérèse Maria Langsprücker, elle aussi membre permanent de la Chapelle épiscopale, avec laquelle il eut pas moins de huit enfants, dont certains suivirent les traces de leur père. Giovanni Benedetto passa toute sa vie à Würzburg, en se distinguant par ses dons musicaux raffinés et son habileté de compositeur, chanteur, claveciniste, violoniste, hautboïste, violoncelliste, et en consacrant également une partie de son activiteé artistique à l’enseignement du chant. Les Sonates pour clavecin ont un rôle de première importance, s’étant révélées des oeuvres d’une expressivité sincère et profonde. L’ensemble de la production de Platti démontre sa volonté d’élargir les horizons stylistiques de l’époque, en partant d’une origine délicieusement baroque pour arriver à toucher des pointes de classicisme. En offrant une contribution significative aux lignes évolutives de la sonate pour clavecin, Platti joue un rôle précis dans le passage de l’héritage baroque, que définissent des constructions conceptuelles hardies, au préclassique qui se distingue par son essentialité, par une précision et une rationalité «naturelle», au point de pouvoir être consideéré comme l’un des maîtres les plus représentatifs du “nouveau goût”. Il faut ajouter que, d’après certains spécialistes, Platti peut avoir représenté une référence importante pour les compositions pour clavier des jeunes Joseph Haydn et Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
Giovanni Benedetto Platti, der zu einem der bedeutendsten Schöpfer der Musikgeschichte des 18. Jahrhunderts zählt, kam am 9. Juli 1697 in Padua zur Welt. Er starb am 11. Januar 1763 in Würzburg, wo er bis zu seinem Tode für sein musikalisches Talent als Komponist, Sänger, Instrumentalist (Cembalo, Geige, Oboe, Cello) und Gesanglehrer geschätzt wurde. Nach der musikalischen Ausbildung bei Francesco Gasparini in Venedig gelangte Platti nach Deutschland, wo er in die Dienste von Johann Philipp Franz von Schönborn trat, dem Prinz- Erzbischof von Würzburg. Dort begann er das gemeinsame Leben mit der ebenfalls an der Hofkapelle tätigen Sängerin Therese Maria Langsprücker. Sie hatten 8 Kinder, von denen einige das musikalische Talent ihres Vaters erbten. Sein ganzes Werk richtet sich auf eine Erweiterung der stilistischen Horizonte seiner Zeit, indem es den Barockrahmen springt und bis hin zu klassischen Klangfarben gelangt. Fausto Torrefranca meint, dass Plattis Stil einen Wechsel zwischen den Polen Arcangelo Corelli und Antonio Vivaldi darstellt, wobei er durch den zweiten aufgrund der venezianischen Musikerziehung Plattis stark beeinflusst wird. Sein ganzes Werk richtet sich auf eine Erweiterung der stilistischen Horizonte seiner Zeit, indem es den Barockrahmen springt und bis hin zu klassischen Klangfarben gelangt. Mit seinem Beitrag zu den Entwicklungslinien der Cembalosonaten erfüllt Platti eine klare Rolle in dem übergang von dem durch gewagte Denkmodelle gekennzeichneten barocken Erbe zu dem vorklassischen, dessen Hauptelemente Wesentlichkeit, Präzision und „natürliche Rationalität“ sind. Platti wird demnach als einer der großen Meister des „neuen Stils“ und von einigen Musikforschern als wahrscheinlicher Bezugspunkt für Joseph Haydns und Mozarts Jugend-tastaturstücke betrachtet.

“This forgotten composer’s works are part of one of the biggest
mysteries of 18th century Italian and European music. It is a
fact: his music contains innovative elements both in terms of
technique and expressivity. One cannot help but wonder how a
composer of this level could be unknown to older and younger
musicians studying 18th century music. I do not think I am
the only one who hears a musical style in these Sonatas that
cannot be that of an immature composer or inexpert musician.
It is impossible not to hear elements that remind one of Mozart
and Haydn or that could easily be the precursor to the great
Beethoven”.

Gianluca Corona nasce a Milano nel 1969.Nel 1991 si diploma all’Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera a Milano. Dal 1994 al 1996 frequenta lo studio di Mario Donizetti a Bergamo.Successivamente inizia la sua attività professionale distinguendosi nel panorama artistico come esponente della giovane figurazione italiana. La sua ricerca espressiva si basa su una rilettura dei generi della natura morta e del ritratto con particolare attenzione dedicata all’utilizzo di tecniche e materiali tradizionali.Ha esposto in numerose rassegne in Italia e all’estero e le sue opere sono conservate in collezioni pubbliche e private.Vive e lavora a Milano.
Gianluca Corona was born in Milan in 1969.In 1991 he graduated with a diploma from the Brera Fine Arts Academy in Milan. From ‘94 to ’96 he refined his talents at Mario Donizetti’s studio in Bergamo.Later he began his professional activity distinguishing on the artistic scene as an exponent of the young Italian figurative art movement.His expressive search is based on a reinterpretation of the traditional genres of still life and portrait, through a monumental and sensual representation of the shapes, giving special attention to the use of traditional materials and techniques.He held numerous exhibitions in Italy and abroad and his works kept in public and private collections.He lives and works in Milan.
