Learning •  Focus needs to be on LEARNING • What is the pedagogical intent of the tool? • Motivate students with content that is meaningful and they

connect with, NOT that will be fun •  Just because a student is engaged and interacting DOES

NOT mean they are learning • Make learning achievable • Words of encouragement

What Do We Really Know? • Not Much • Mostly quantitative • Every MOOC is different •  Few students fill out pre-survey, fewer few out post • Male learners heavily outweigh female in STEM
