IPR and Creative Industries

• Creative and cultural products and services can often, but not always (such as the full experience of a concert), be digitalised, and distributed in the same quality as the original. When reproduced there is often “no harm” done to the content (it can be consumed again and again)

• Creative and cultural products often have a high level of “symbolic” or intangible value, making it easy to make money of copies

• Valuating IP can be extremely difficult

• Needs analysis: More important to creative industries
