BLOCKCHAIN REVOLUTION: HOW THE TECHNOLOGY BEHIND BITCOIN IS CHANGING MONEY, BUSINESS AND THE WORLD
The first generation of the digital revolution brought us the Internet of information. The second generation—powered by blockchain technology—is bringing us the Internet of value: a new, distributed platform that can help us reshape the world of business and transform the old order of human affairs for the better. Blockchain is the ingeniously simple, revolutionary protocol that allows transactions to be simultaneously anonymous and secure by maintaining a tamper-proof public ledger of value. As with major paradigm shifts which preceded it, the blockchain will create winners and losers. And while opportunities abound, the risks of disruption and dislocation must not be ignored.

BUILD A WORKPLACE PEOPLE LOVE - JUST ADD JOY
Create an intentional team culture focused on the business value of joy and unleash the human energy and the results you always knew were possible. In this talk, Richard Sheridan will explore what an intentionally joyful culture must choose as its focus; what joy looks like, feels like, and how it is organized. This is not a theoretical talk, but rather built from well over a decade of experience of leading a team focused on “the business value of joy” with plenty of room for discussion with the audience.
THE ROOT CAUSE OF PRODUCT FAILURE
There are of course many possible reasons for failed product efforts. In this talk Marty Cagan tells us about what he considers the root cause of so many failed efforts, and also what he believes is the core reason that technology hubs are much slower to become established and demonstrate success in certain parts of the world compared to others. He will highlight the key differences between successful product teams and weak teams. This includes product culture, leadership principles, methods and techniques.

WELL-DESIGNED: HOW TO USE EMPATHY TO CREATE PRODUCTS PEOPLE LOVE
Most companies consider strong product management to be the “glue” that holds together products. Modern startups have proven that industry disruption is possible not by focusing on adding features or improving sales, but instead by providing deep, meaningful engagement to the people that use the products or services. Design leverages a certain way of thinking that ensures products have emotional appeal and a strong market fit. In this talk, you’ll learn how to apply that process yourself.
THE INs & OUTs OF MOBILE APP DEVELOPMENT
Lyndsey Scott provides a professional look into what goes into mobile app development today: what's hard, what's not, and what she enjoys about this particular type of project. During a live programming demo, she'll show you just what exactly those programmers you work with have been going on about.

THE SECOND MACHINE AGE
We are living in a time of brilliant technologies: cars that drive themselves; Jeopardy!-champion supercomputers; cheap, flexible, and useful robots; algorithms that make better decisions that humans; and countless others. They are bringing us into a second machine age, the greatest era of transformation since the Industrial Revolution. In his talk, Dr. McAfee will discuss both the great promise and thorny challenges – for organizations, leaders, and workers alike – of the world we're creating as we create and deploy digital technologies that are the stuff of science fiction.
HOMO INFORMATICUS

HOMO VIRTUALIS - THE VIRTUAL APE IN VIRTUAL REALITY
The “reality” we humans experience is wholly virtual: it is the product of our senses and our mental processes. As immersive Virtual Reality finally arrives (an increasingly rich and multi-sensory experience) it will become difficult to distinguish between “real reality” and the virtual kind. Is this a problem for our species? Ray Hammond argues that humans are virtual creatures: what distinguishes us from other animals is the virtual creations we make in our brains. Virtual Reality will become a natural new habitat for the Virtual Ape.
WEAPONS OF MATH DESTRUCTION
In the age of big data, we have begun to automate all sorts of old-fashioned decision-making processes. How we decide to hire or fire employees, police civilians, parole criminals, or even assess teachers have all become algorithmic. The intention behind such algorithms is to improve consistency and decrease bias, but does that always happen? Data skeptic Cathy O'Neil walks us through many examples of widespread and powerful algorithms that create destructive feedback loops. How to make can we make algorithms work for us, not against us?

ROBOCARS: THE COMING REVOLUTION OF CARS THAT DRIVE THEMSELVES
The marriage of computers and cars will bring Moore's Law to transportation, and not only completely upend the automotive industry, but also change how and where we live and many other industries including energy, real estate, retailing and even apparel, while at the same time saving millions of lives.
CONTENT STRATEGY IN A ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE
Friends, a zombie apocalypse is upon us: an onslaught of new mobile devices, platforms, and screen sizes, hordes of them descending every day. We're outmatched. Defeating the zombies will require flexibility and stamina—in our content. Surviving is possible: by developing a content strategy that treats all our platforms as if they're equally important.

THE PRICE OF SHAME
Monica Lewinsky brings her own unique experience and observations to what is called our “culture of humiliation.” Today, too many people – most notably the young and the vulnerable – are suffering from the effects of public shaming. This is particularly true online where cyber-bullies spew hateful comments, degrading our public discourse. Everyone and anyone can become a target on the digital playground. In her talk, “The Price of Shame,” she describes what this experience was like when she became the first person to lose a reputation on a global scale instantaneously via the Internet. And she explores the means by which we can combat this epidemic of public shaming because, as she says, “Public humiliation as a blood sport has to stop.”

/062016 HOMO ECONOMICUS

THE CIRCULAR ECONOMY: SOCIETY’S LAST CHANCE?
With an increasing pressure on natural resources, our development is causing us unbearable costs and the risks of inflation and decreasing prosperity are pushing us to reconsider our business model. Shifting our production of goods and services from linear to “circular” represents an opportunity worth trillion of dollars. In this speech, we will explore venues for the Circular Economy to become the new norm.

THE BUSINESS VALUE OF CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE
Customer experience has become a top strategic imperative for today’s leading brands. But in order to reap the benefits of improved customer relationships, executives need to understand how effective, effortless, and enjoyable experiences drive specific business results — and how their organizations must change in order to deliver them.

THE SAPIENS SECRET OF SUCCESS: HOW HUMANS CONQUERED THE WORLD
About 70,000 years ago, Earth was populated by at least six different human species. None of them had much impact on the global ecology. Today only one human species has survived – Homo sapiens – but it is the most important factor in the global ecology. How did we reach from there to here? How did we transform ourselves from insignificant apes into the rulers of planet Earth? Our secret of success is that we are the only animal that can talk about things that exist purely in our own imagination, such as gods, nations, money, and human rights.
HOMO EVOLUTIS
There used to be two determinants of what lived and died: natural selection and random mutation. Over the last century or two, and especially over the last decade, humans fundamentally altered these rules. As we practice extreme human intervention and alter the course of natural selection we create a parallel evolutionary track, one whose rules and outcomes depend on what we want. We don't just choose how to breed but how to rewrite the code of life itself. The biggest story of the next few centuries will be how we redesign life forms, spread new ones, develop approaches and knowledge to further push the boundaries of what lives where. Life is expanding and diverging.
