Critically analyse the demographic transition, unemployment, under-
employment and employment generation prospects for the youth
of Pakistan
• There is convincing evidence that Pakistan has entered the demographic bonus phase; child
dependency is declining and youth share in the total population is rising.
DEFINITION OF 'UNEMPLOYMENT'
• Unemployment occurs when a person who is actively searching for employment is unable to find work.
• According to Economic survey 2010-11
• Population 177.7 million
• Total Labour force 54.92 million
• Employed 51.87 million
• Unemployed 3.05 million
Causes
• Less govt. jobs opportunities
• Having low technical Education in Education Sector
• Unskilled
• Younger Generation involve in Politics beside of to do concentration in their studies
• Political Instability
• The underemployment classification includes those workers that are highly skilled but working in low paying jobs,
• Increased competition among degree-holders
• The economy has changed dramatically, while higher education as an institution has not
• After the independence in 150-1970 unemployment rate is very low because of unavailable resource but after 21th century the rate of employment higher and unemployment decreaces.
• Govt made such decision to decreace the rate of unempployment and now in 2010-2014 about 35% people are employed and 45%are unemployed and 20% in the level of underemployment.
