ComprehensionThe ability to understand what happened in the story & why.
In first grade, we work on asking questions before, during, and after reading to show understanding of the text as a whole.
We work on making connections to different texts, ourselves, and the world.
As first grade progresses, we begin working on responding in writing to reading questions.
