DATA APPLIANCEFOR ARCGIS

Data Appliance for ArcGIS

Provides Access to Multi-Scale Basemaps

Down to Medium Scale Levels Worldwide

And Large Scale for Most of the World

The services are grouped into the following categories:

• Basemaps – Layers meant to be used on their own or overlaid with other layers

• Reference Layers – Layers intended to be overlaid on basemaps to provide reference information

• Terrain Data – Layers of elevation and terrain data

• Elevation Analysis Tools – Geoprocessing tools for performing analysis on elevation data

The Data Appliance includes Several Esri Services

World Topographic Map

This map includes administrative boundaries, cities, water features, physiographic features, parks, landmarks, highways, roads, railways,

and airports.

World Topographic Map

World Street Map

World Street Map

This map presents a street map with highway-level data for the world and detailed streets in

many populated areas of the world.

Light Gray Canvas (Base & Reference)

Light Gray Canvas (Base & Reference)

This basemap provides a neutral background for your data with minimal

colors, labels, and features.

This reference map provides labels for selected cities and towns around the world in support of the World Light Gray Base.

Dark Gray Canvas (Base & Reference)

Dark Gray Canvas (Base & Reference)

This map draws attention to your thematic content by providing a neutral background with minimal colors, labels, and features.

This map provides labels for selected cities and towns around the world, in support of

the World Dark Gray Base.

National Geographic Map

National Geographic Map

This map is designed to be used as a general reference map for informational and educational purposes as well

as a basemap by GIS professionals and other users.

USA Topo Maps

This map presents landcover imagery for the world…

and detailed topographic maps for the United States at various scales (1:250k, 1:100k, 1:24k, etc.)

USA Topo Maps

World Ocean Maps (Base & Reference)

This base map includes bathymetry and inland waters and roads, overlaid on land-cover and

shaded relief imagery.

This reference map includes surface and subsurface feature names and derived depths

for use with the World Ocean Base map.

World Ocean Maps (Base & Reference)

World Physical Map

This map presents the Natural Earth physical map for the world.

World Hillshade

This map portrays elevation as an artistic multidirectional hillshade. This is designed to

be used as a backdrop for topographical, soil, hydro, landcover or other maps.

World Imagery Map

This map is a compilation of satellite and aerial imagery worldwide. At small scales, the map

displays 15-meter imagery. At mid-scales, 2.5-meter imagery is used where available.

World Imagery Map

At larger scales, 2.5-meter to sub-meter imagery is provided where available.

World Imagery Map

In select areas of North America, 1-meter and better high-resolution imagery is provided.

World Boundaries & Places

This map includes country boundaries, first-order (state/province), internal administrative boundaries

for most countries, and place-names for the world. The map is designed to be overlaid on imagery basemap.

World Transportation Map

This map presents transportation data, including highways, roads, railroads, and airports for the world. This map should be overlaid on imagery basemaps.

Terrain 3D

Terrain 3D

Once you’ve published the Terrain 3D layer as a map service, you can use the layer to visualize your maps and layers in 3D using applications like the Scene Viewer in ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online.

The service can only be used in ArcGIS 10.3 or later.

Terrain

This dynamic image service provides numeric values representing ground surface heights, based on a

digital terrain model (DTM). The ground heights are based on multiple sources. Heights are orthometric (sea level = 0), and water bodies that are above sea

level have approximated nominal water heights.

This layer has server functions defined for the following elevation derivatives: • Slope Degrees • Slope Percentages • Aspect • Ellipsoidal Height • Hillshade • Multi-Directional Hillshade • Pre-symbolized Elevation Tinted Hillshade • Pre-symbolized Slope Degrees • Pre-symbolized Aspect

Terrain

The Profile tool allows you to create profiles of your choosing anywhere on the surface of the earth. An Elevation Profile shows you the height (or depth) of a surface along the length of a linear feature. It is an effective way to visualize and understand the elevation and topography of the surface of the earth.
