CREATING NEW IMAGE

1. Click File > New

SAVING FILE AS .psd

ICON NAME FUNCTION

Panel List/Menu Shows the list of menus

Blending Mode Determines how the image on the layer will blend with the layers beneath

Opacity Sets the opacity or transparency of the layer (or image)

Lock Transparent Pixels Prevents modification of the transparent area of the active layer

Lock Image Pixels Locks the image in the activated layer for modification

ICON NAME FUNCTION

Lock Position Locks the content of the selected later for repositioning

Lock All Locks the selected later for modification and repositioning

Layer Visibility Shows or hide the layer

Add a Layer Style Provides list of effects that can be applied to the layer

Add Layer MaskAdd layer mask that allows you to hide a part of a layer and reveal the layer underneath by painting on the mask

ICON NAME FUNCTION

Adjustment Layer Provides list of colors and tone adjustments that you can apply to the image

Create a New Group Organizes groups of related layers into folders

Create a New Layer Creates a new transparent layer

Delete Layer Deletes the active layer

DUPLICATING A LAYER

1. Click your chosen layer and drag it to the Create a New Layer icon.

2. Right click the layer, on the pop-up menu, click Duplicate Layer.

CREATING A LAYER NAME

1. Click Layer > New Adjustment Layer.2. Select any of the adjustments you want to apply and

modify it in the Properties panel.

OPACITY

Select the layer, drop down the arrow to see the sliding tab of Opacity box. Adjust the opacity value of your image by

choosing from 1 to 100%.
