EQUATIONS

• Insert->Symbols->Equation• Equations can be shown in one of two

modes: “Professional” or “Linear”• When an equation is selected all the

symbols and structures you may need are available under Equation Tools->Design

TABLES

• Insert->Tables->Table• Insert and Delete Rows and Columns

– Right Click/Table Tools->Layout

• Change Row and Column Sizes• Table Tools->Design->Table Styles

TEMPLATES

• File->New– Simple and personal templates– Office.com templates

SMART ART

• Smart art allows you to easily create complex figures to help explain a concept or process

• Insert->Illustrations->Smart Art

WORD ART

• Insert->Text->WordArt• Usually, you will not want to use word art

in professional documents, but it can be useful for posters or advertisements

SHAPES

• Insert->Illustrations->Shapes– After selecting the desired shape, draw it with

the mouse

• Drawing Tools->Format– You can change the style, wrapping, and size

USING OBJECTS FROM EXCEL

• In Excel, copy the cells or chart that you’d like to include in your Word document

• Paste in Word• Table tools will work with copied cells• The chart tools you are familiar with from

Excel will be available for a pasted chart

DOCUMENT THEMES

• Themes are groups of styles that can be used to alter the look of the entire document– Page Layout->Themes->Themes

WEB PAGES

• Word documents can be saved as HTML so that they can be viewed in a web browser.

• Word can open HTML and allow you to edit a web page

• However, Word is not the ideal tool for this and it may generate poor quality HTML
