JUNE 2013

I own a Nokia Lumia 920, which is what I used for this demo

I bought some NFC tags from Amazon.com called “Nokia Writer Supplies”

I put one on the bottom of my coffee cup

What I want to do is set up my new NFC tags so my phone does something when I tap the phone to the NFC tag. To do that, use the Nokia NFC Writer application

Select Compose to create the new action when you tap this particular NFC tag with your phone

Then select the action to have happen when I tap this NFC specific tag that’s now on my coffee cup. In my case, the action I want is to post a tweet.

Of course, there are a variety of actions that can be taken when someone taps their phone to an NFC tag, but this is what I’m choosing for this particular tag.

This step will be unique to whatever action you’ve selected for your NFC tagFor the “post a tweet” action, this is where I can put in some default text for when I tap my phone to this NFC tag

The final step is to associate the action to the tag, so simply tap the phone to the tag.

When the phone completes the new association, it tells me with the “write complete” message

Assume some time has passed and I’ve walked up to my desk

When I tap my phone to my NFC tag, it asks me if I want to open twitter.com

When I click to Accept the action of opening Twitter.com, it brings me to the web page with my default text already filled out

When I press the Tweet button, it shares the message on Twitter
