Department of Civil Engineering, Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering in association with
Indian water works association (IWWA), Bangalore Centre Inaugurated Youth forum and
Student Chapter for water (YFW) and organized Jatha to create awareness on water, sanitation
and health." on 26th
September 2017 at DSI Campus.
Jatha Campaign was inaugurated by Dr.M.V Rajeev Gowda, Member of Parliament, Govt of
India.
Around 600 students along with faculty members of civil engineering department, DSCE rallied
in surrounding areas of kumarswamy layout, Iliyas Nagar, Padmanabanagar, Gowdara colony
and ISRO layout spreading awareness among the residents of the area about water sanitation and
health. Usage and importance of solar power was also communicated by students to the residents
and brochures with demo pilot models installed in the mobile vans were communicated to local
community.

Department of Civil Engineering, Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering in association with
Indian water works association (IWWA), Bangalore Centre and Engineering Research Board,
(SERB) New Delhi / Indian space research organization (ISRO) Bangalore, Ministry of Earth
Science Government of India, is organized a National Seminar on “Role of Engineers in
Infrastructure, Energy and Irrigation " on 27th
September 2017 at DSI Campus,
Dr.Premachandra Sagar Auditorium, Bangalore – 78.
Sri.Y.A. Narayana Swamy, Member of Legislative Assembly, Government of Karnataka
inaugurated the National Seminar on occasion of 157 th
birthday of Sri.M.Visvesvaraya. Sri.Y.A.
Narayana Swamy addressing the student community told that they should develop the qualities
of Sri.M.Visvesvaraya nation building. He further emphasized that Karnataka state is not able
utilize 50% of available water resources and it is the need of the hour to utilize maximum water
for the betterment of livelihood. Shri.M.V.Subba Rao, Chairman and Managing Director,
Kudremukh Iron Ore Company Limited (KIOCL) released the proceedings of the seminar.

D. Nageshkumar Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, Indian Institute of Science
addressed the gathering. He advised that efficient use of water for irrigation is the need of hour in
India.
Dr. H. K. Ramaraju convener of the workshop welcomed the guests. Sri Galiswamy, Secretary-
Dayananda Sagar Institutions, Principal Dr. C.P.S. Prakash, Shri.B.Srinivas Reddy, IWWA
Chairman, Bangalore zone graced the occasion.

Mr. Rajan Agarwal, Punjab Agricultural University delivering the lecture
This workshop strives to promote innovation practices in infrastructure for energy and Irrigation
for sustainability.
The convener of the workshop Dr. H. K. Ramaraju, Professor and Head, Civil Engineering
Department, told around 300 participants, including engineers from various organizations from
Punjab around 10 participants and other neighboring states of Karnataka around 55 participants
and Faculty from various institutions across the country attended the national seminar. Three
parallel technical sessions were conducted and twenty one research papers were presented.
A proceedings volume on the National Level Technical Conjecture - 13 full papers was released.
The seminar was graced by many dignitaries, senior engineers, faculty from educational
Institutions such as Punjab, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, IISC, IIT (Madras), UVCE, PES
College of Engineering (Mandya), National Institute of Engineering (Mysore), Nagarjuna
College of Engineering, AIEMS College (Bidadi), Ghousia College of Engineering, Govt. Civil

Engineering College (Ramanagar), Cambridge Institute of Technology, BIT, DSATM, SJBIT,
BMSIT, ATRIA, EPCET .
The program started with technical sessions which are as follows:

Technical Session 2: Role of GIS/GPS in Integrated Water Resources Management
Technical Session 3: Climate Change Mitigation in the transport sector through urban
planning
Gratitude was extended to all of our distinguished plenary speakers and to our Session Directors.
We would also like to acknowledge the important contributions of all of our conference
participants.
