Description: This section of ENGL 5840 will explore the way black authors/auteurs have negotiated or created space and place, from the 20th century kitchenette to the 21st century college campus, and the accompanying debates. Texts to be studied include critical essays, novels, poetry, and film. The course culminates in a creative research project.
